Hey all, thx for looking at my problem. I'm running an 87 T-Type with a fairly built motor and a killer 2004r. When I got the car 2 years ago, the 1-2,2-3 shift was brutul even at low rpm, part throttle. The car is lightly street driven but is usually driven at least once a week for a quick 2-3 mile trip to my kids school. I've noticed in the last month that occasionally during the 1-2 shift it will seem to stutter between 1-2 or possibly 1-neutral. I've read several posts and done some searching, and I believe this is the problem ya'll refer to as flare but want to verify that. The tranny still shifts very hard at PT/WOT for both shifts but not quite as hard as before. It does not have a aftermarket cooler currently, but like I said it doesn't see much street driving. I don't think its heat related due to the fact that I don't typically drive it long enough to really heat up. I've also been running the fluid level just above the full mark and will add some fluid asap to see if that cures it. Could the low fluid level be causing both problems? Thx again for ya'lls input.

Try unplugging the wiring for the TC lockup on the side of the trans. Almost sounds like the TC is locking as soon as it goes into 2nd.
