I'm getting ready to sell a '87 shortblock for a customer and wonder what you guys use for shipping. I would guess it's too heavy for UPS? i live in a rural area (zip is 24244). It's a complete stock (All factory GM) except for the billet roller btw.

Yep it too heavy for any of of the Parcel delivery services. I've used "Roadway" with some success, whoever you use make sure you bolt it to your pallet with reinforcements and protection 4x4's. Alot of time shippers get in a hurry and really smack the pallets around with the fork trucks, expect to pay around 150.00 or less.

I had a motor shipped to me by way of Fed-X and it arrived in several pieces. It was shipped with insurance and they never payed the claim. So be sure and protect it very well. I had another one shipped from Canada by Yellow Freight and it arrived just fine. Good Luck

Mike, I ship them on a pallet. We use a metal stand, costs the customer $45, but it can also be used later for storage of an engine. This is bolted to the pallet and wrapped well with padding and plastic wrap.
