Sorry no pictures and I did have a local board member check it out for me and he said go for it. But wanted to see what everyone else thinks.

It is a 87 T Type, 124k on it. Has been re-painted but it's very thin on the back quarter's. Interior has been re-upholstered along with new headliner. Car has a little bigger turbo, 30lb inector's, Maf translator with Ls1 maf, hooker aerochamber exhaust, GN wheels and seems like the transmission has been rebuilt or has a shift kit. Car looks great really and drives great, oh also has vacuum brakes. The only issue that we found is the trip meter does not move, there is a small leak at the front of the tranny, cruise control has been removed (not a big deal). That's really about it, I am a little concerned with the tranny and trip meter, mainly the tranny, I hate leaks. Car has no gauges or scan tool. He is asking 8000 and so far have got him down to $7500 but he won't budge off of that. I just don't want to spend $7500 and then have to fix some issues, but if that is a good price reflecting the issues then by all means I'm fine with it.

Thanks, oh and the carfax was ok, though it would fail inspection then pass, and currently no inspection on it, it has a department of defense sticker on it. I am guessing he would take the cat off and then back on.

$7K tops figure $300 to fix the tranny seal.

And who knows how it really runs without scantools or data logs.

Trip odometers can fail, mines been stuck for years although I did use it a lot, not the owners fault.

You sure it's not 224K and not 124K miles?

Most cars don't need a new interior at 124K.

Any leaks or issues with water?

Just wondering.

No telling, I suck at telling miles. This was on the carfax for the last reported mileage: 03/12/2007 121,000 miles

The guy from the board did say it was going past 15lbs so no telling if it was slowly doing damage or not, no scantools :(

Just that leak from seal probably, no telling how hot the engine gets, no damn gauges, even factory, which is dumb imo. I did notice the radiator fan runs at startup without the a/c on though, did not see any water leaks.

Here is the carfax:

30# injectors....stock is 28# be careful with a "bigger" turbo especially past 15 psi.

I think stock replacement injectors are rated at 30#.

22 yr old car..your gonna spend some extra on it, front seal on tranny is nothing but a Sat afternoon to fix

Roll the dice I say

I'd say go for it also if you are comfortable with the car's needs. If you had a board member look at it, it is a pair of knowing eyes.

This could be a very good car. It is almost exactly what mine is, except mine is a GN. Mine has 130,000.It has never seen a winter or hardly any rain for that matter. Most stock turbos go around 70,000. When that happened, I upgraded, of course. So I went to the TE49 and 30 pounders. I wanted more power, but I was not going to race. My rear seats were ripped for 10 years (and I don't have kids!), and the headliner was sagging. Soooo..... and the original paint was looking pretty shabby after 15 years even though it is garaged, Sooo..... These are natural things to replace after this many years. Oh, ya and I still get 25 mpg.

Been there, done that. Stay away from junk like that. It will cost you twice that to restore it back to good shape and made worthy for the road. Just save a little more money and buy a turn key car. You could score a sweet turn-key car for like $10k these days. I can assure $3-4k will only scratch the surface of what u will dump into it repairing it.

Ur gonna buy a complete headache because once you get the thing home ur gonna find even more things that need repair. You say fix "Some" issues. There will be more then some ussues. That you can bank on. Impulse buys when it's warm and sunny will usually result in regret.

Oh yeah, I made an impulse buy on my last toy which was a 96 Cobra, biggest piece of **** in the world, that is why I'm taking my time on this. But honestly, car doesn't look or drive like junk is the thing. But wish people would fix issues before selling though.

If you have a local Firestone dealer they can do an inspection for you for a little money and give you a better idea of the condition of the car. If not take it to a local shop you trust.

The carfax looks okay.

If the paint is good enough and it drives okay and you can do some work yourself and have a couple of G's extra to dump into it for whatever it needs including scan tools and gauges then for sure go for it.

I'd still want $300 off for the tranny seal. ;)

Remember if you intend to race it or increase the power a decent street strip tranny rebuild is around $1400 or so.

Looks like the car was in WI for years.

It's odd that the cruise control was removed.

I'd double check to make sure the engine and tranny VIN's match the dashtop VIN plaque for sure.

Do a search here on how to find them on each.

Ok I will check that, yeah I want to pay no more than $7200 tops. Specially when he said there was no leak.

Does the car need to be painted? That's another $5k just to start.... Before u waste ur money, save ur money. There will be another one for sale soon enough. There always is.

Well honestly as many car shows and race events as I have been to, I have not seen a T type this cheap not to mention I haven't seen many to begin with of course due to rarity. That's what I am concerned about. The paint is really thin in the back quarter's, fairly thin all over car, but still ok to me, could be better, I imagine it was an earl schweib type job.
