Should I chase the head bolt threads in the block??

Heads are off awaiting ported heads...engine is on rollover stand. Can I chase the block's head bolt threads with a cleaning tap and then flush the coolant passages with water??
Sure would like to get that old thread sealant out of the threads.

The head bolt threads aren't special are they??

Any downside to doing this??

Nope,just do it.
Blow them clean afterwards and you should be good to go.
