So, its a nice afternoon, and I decide to put on my newly recieved FP gauge. I unscrew the cap to the schrader valve, and I screw on the connecter for the FP gauge, and whaddya know..its stripped...So..what do I do know?

Does the aluminum looking end part screw off? The shrader valve itself is what I think it is. It is what the FP gauge screws onto that is connected to the fuel rail.(thats the shrader valve ..right?)

So what do I do?

Thanks, Tyler.

i'm a little confused. the shrader valve is the thing just like whats in the valve stem of a tire. if its a problem wiht that then get it out and don't worry about anything. if its the threds on th end of the fuel railthen youve got some problems. if its not real bad you could try a lot of teflon tape and hope for the best. or get a new fuel rail.

Get a new fuel rail. Call BWeavy at Gbodyauto parts. Pretty sure he has them.

Don't mess with teflon tape if the threads on the outside of the rail are truly stripped as it is a MAJOR fire hazard and accident waiting to happen.

Good luck

Billy

it depends how bad they are. if there just a little worn then the teflon will work. if they don't look like threads anymore then don't chance it. your on your own for determining how bad it is.

What he said, I got a video some where of a GN on fire due to a leak off of the fuel rail on a 7th injector, not pretty.

Sounds as if there may already be a fitting screwed onto the fuel rail and hopefully that is all the is stripped.
Is there an aluminum looking fitting already on the end of the fuel rail?? If so, that may be the part that is stripped and its not the fuel rail at all. The fuel rail itself is all black, including the male threads that the cap screws onto and the schader valve screws into the female threads on the same part...it has both male threads and female threads on the fuel rail end.

Otherwise, if the fuel rail threads are stripped, its best to get a new one.

Its not the fuel rail itself. The black part is not stripped. It is the aluminum fitting on the end or the fuel rail. That part is stripped.

Does that part unscrew? Can I just buy a new one of those?

Then it sounds like you're ok. If there an aluminum block/fitting on the end, then its not a stock piece....you should be able to get a new one at any speed shop. I think it s an 5AN fitting??? Do a search on schrader valve and you should be able to find out for sure the thread size thats on the rail, but I think its 5AN.
The female part that the gauge screws into is probably 1/8" NPT.

The aluminum fitting that has threads on it.. can that just be screwed off and replaced?

You keep saying "aluminum fitting". Since the factory GN fuel rail had no aluminum fitting (stock), I'd say it's removeable. Put the wrench to it and see!

Yes, the aluminum fitting should just screw off of the fuel rail, but don't turn it real hard, hate to break off the fuel rail end if someone put it on too tight or used loc-tite or something on it. The AN fitting on the fuel rail is designed to seal without alot of pressure.
