Light shudder and seems to rev a little higher that it should when in reverse.
Here's the scoop! Fresh billet parts rebuild, CK shift kit, dual feed, Sonnex servo with the big stock cushion spring. All forward shifts are positive but not hard as I expected. Sorry I have no pressure readings at this time. Any ideas? Thanks.

Little cup plug with rubber tip that presses into the case for low/reverse clutch missing?

Am 100% sure that seals there, but if it wasn't wouldn't that make low gear act the same a R now? Low hits nice and firm.I need to get the car back here and get a gauge on it then maybe I'll learn something.

Shudder in reverse...

Line pressure readings will definitely help. Without knowing what else was done to trans, IE: dual feed, etc. It's a guessing game at best. As you alluded to in your last post, many things that affect reverse would also effect low, I would check the valve body for sticking valves to start and check condition of spacer plate and gaskets. I believe Gil Younger offered a kit with the "Guppy", a small add on plate at the rear of the valve body to increase clamping force to better seal spacer plate/valvebody. Let us know what you find, always interested in learning more about the 200. Good luck, John.

Low gear is the one way roller holding and when in Manual low, the clutches are supposed to help hold so the one way doesn't take all the abuse and line pressure is boosted. If you didn't get that seal in, there will be a leak showing on the gage. One thing I don't use is the little "gimmick" items like the guppy. There is a better way. Make sure the support plate is flat and install AXOD/AX4S check balls in all the ''bathtub" spots in the case. They energize WAY faster than the steel balls. Especially when fluid is hot. :) Clusolynn is right about checking pressure to know for sure.

I have used the harder "plastic" brown check balls and the later green AX4N check balls with zero wear on the ball itself. Every 2004R I do gets these and I recently freshened up an 8 year old trans and they all looked like the day I installed them. They are made to sacrifice the ball instead of opening up the plate but I have had excellent luck with them. :)

do you have transbrake?

I use the .312" and also the balls from the E4OD will work as well. Never had a bit of trouble with those in the last 18 years. They are light and energize very quickly. Especially when the fluid is hot and that little .250" steel ball needs to move quick but weighs more than the lighter larger check ball. :)

What size do you use Eric?
.312", .250" .187" --Torlon Imidized plastic check balls. I think the GM kits use .250" check balls.

Few sizes here Sonnax valves & tools,Sonnax Transmission parts

No T Brake.
I picked the car up yesterday...after it was driven and few miles and sat in the garage a few days it worked MUCH better. The trans was overhauled last fall and sat in my garage several(6-7) month without any oil, maybe a sticky valve
or some air trapped in the VB. It has 85 psi at idle in P-N-R pressure rises with throttle apply. Manual 1 and 2 are about 250 I didn't get any WOT readings seeing I was working alone and didn't trust the E brake. I would like to see a little more idle pressure, what's the best way to that? larger boost valve or shim PR spring? Thanks to all that applied.

You can use one of these to raise the Idle pressure. It will raise Idle Pressure and allow you to tighten the TV cable for a little more Pr. & prevents the TV cable from resetting when the Throttle is floored.
http://www.sonnax.com/system/announcement/AS1-01K.pdf this is a pack of 5 but, several places sell them seperately for around $5-$7.

Your right. I've used those before but didn't think about them this time...getting old and forgetful sucks. A lot easier and cleaner that pull the pan.
I love they way these dual feed 200-4R's hit 3rd gear:smile:
Thanks.
