I hope this isn't an omen for the way my new year is going to be...ended 2006 with a blown oil filter adapter gasket and o ring. With all the humidity it looked like a Root Beer Float under my Ty and carport from all the oil leaking. So Patrick came over and took a dive under....THANKS PAT!

It hasn't been cold but just a few days here in NC this year. We are supposed to be near 70's all week:eek:

Cheryl, hope everything was okay!

Thanks Shane, it's MUCH better now.It was one heck of a mess! It blew oil all underneath the truck and up the back tailgate and glass, pretty much bumper to bumper. At least nothing is going to rust for awhile:D it got well greased! I was getting ready to call my other Ty mechanic when Pat decided he was going in for the kill. He should be a yoga instructor with all the contorted movements he had to do to get to it, not easy with the AWD

That wouldn't be Tay would it?? Love the goggles! You shoulda had Pat put some water wings on too! PS- I have a brand new remote filter housing if you need it. It came with the Ty I got from Tay..ha, that's wierd! It's brand new and never been used. Also has a black PF52 on it.

the oil filter housing is not what broke on her truck. There is a housing that bolts to the engine block where the oil filter would normally go. the housing has the oil lines bolted to it. they run up to the oil filter housing that is located in the front driver side inner fender well.
the o-rings had gotten brittle over the course of 160k and just blew out. needless to say i replaced all the o-rings when doing this little messy job

Craig if you still have your TY keep a check on that it seems to be a common problem on the sy/ty's and the 4.3 blazer/jimmy

she was also referring to TAY M

Yep, that be Tay I call when we can't get it figured out, he still does some home wrenching. NO WAY would I take it to a dealership for repair!!! Since Tay no longer is at the dealership to babysit it there. Pat's been a lifesaver! He could have used a wetsuit to go with the goggles, lol! Thanks for the offer on the remote filter housing, don't need it now but never know when something else is going to go out(it is getting to be an antique vehicle)

Got rid of the Ty in 99. Haven't seen Tay in about 5 years. I guess he's doing the"daddy thing" now. Smart guy. The last time I saw his T-Type it looked like it had moss growing on it! That car was a legend back in the EARLY 90's

Tay is building houses now, and I guess being a family man. I had my Ty out there a while back(early summer) and he had just gotten his car redone from paint shop, looked REAL GOOD! I may have some pics of it on my puter, if i find them I'll post them

Here's a couple of pics of Tay's car. One is sort of fuzzy, but no moss on it!

Ok, how easy is it to change this? My sisters BF's car just let one go...Leaking oil like crazy and has to make a trek to college soon. How long did it take you?

Changing the O-ring and paper gasket is not really hard. It's just time comsuming where it's located. I hope that your a skinny guy that can bend in to shome funky places. :)
