I need to install a shift kit on my GN, anybody know of place to go? thank you

I'd recommend Donnie Wang

in Santee, he's one of the best,
Culhain in Lake Elsinore is great also.

I know there are others,
Len in Las Vegas is also one of the best.
listen to whats recommended on the board.

thanks but maybe some closer to home shops if avail?

STAY AWAY FROM ART-CARR Many people on the board have had HUGE problems with their transmissions. They have dumped thousands into a trans that has been redone elsewhere...Just ask Underboost and Spoolfool2 (just to name a couple)

wow did not know tranny shops in LA Area were that bad, i guess i need to make a trip.... did not really want to but need the car running right...

x2 I don't let anyone else touch my trans unless its Len.
x3 great customer service. he does a one day service on a complete rebuild and he was nice enough to keep my car overnight in his shop, that gave me such a peace of mind that I was able to enjoy myself and not worry about the wolves.

X3 He'll do it on a weekend, while you wait if needed. If the trans is shifting fine, I'd just leave it alone.

Happy spooling
Mike B.

In the 21 years I have worked on these cars.I have tried most everyone of the local shops at one time or another & they have not have not been able to keep up with the power that these cars are now capable of producing with the right recipe. No joke several of my recent customers have burned through 8- 10 grand with some of these experts.Myself included. Len Freeman is the only guy that I have seen consistent luck with.Good attitude & stands behind his work. You won't hear the classic, It's a hi perf car & no warranty.I had one issue that wasn't his fault.A bad converter from precision knocked out my thrust main. He's worth the trip to Vegas. If your needing a shift kit chances are it needs a rebuild. I don't care if your stock unit is brand new. It needs to be gone through & set up properly or it won't last. While your at it get a 3200 stall converter & be done with it. Pay it now or pay later.

OK I see Len is best choice out there,
Thank you everybody for all the help,......

Klever, You will find in time that these cars require specialized help in the way of mechanics, tuners, machine shops, & tranny mechanics or they won't survive. If you call Lou at his shop I am sure that he will donate whatever time necessary to convince you of the importance of this. We've all been there, we've all done the same mistakes, & we're all just trying to see you get it right the 1st time around. Actually, anybody that you call in the Southwestern Section is there to help. HTH

Gary is right,But newcomers get confused with differences of opinion. The Buick community is sort of tribal. With different break away factions. Each convinced that theirs is the best.Like women occasionally we all go on the rag at once.So Dear leader Gary has to step in & do a little recalibration when the circuits get over loaded.

No, I don't do nor am I capable of re-calibration, Southwestern Section seems to be doing just fine. Forum membership is not only the largest turbo Buick forum in existence, it is probably growing the quickest of any of the other turbo Buick sites, too. Life just doesn't get any better than this.

I gave up chasing quite a few years back. I would hate to guess what one would look like that I could catch now.
I meant that statement "life just doesn't get any better than this" pretty much as a "tongue in cheek" statement. Life's ok & I have no complaints.
I decided to cancel my interest in a new vette for right now & probably forever. Even with a big discount going on until the 30 Sept, cutting a check for $70K is not going to leave much if something goes wrong at work, and guaranteed something is going to go wrong at work sometime between thanksgiving and Christmas. My boss has been hammering me to train somebody or several people for auditing, and I refuse to do it. I am not about to train my own replacement. And to my knowledge, we have never laid off anybody for at least 3 years, since we were bought out & taken over. That doesn't mean that people haven't left at the company's request, that just means that they were walked out the door. That boils down to no chance for unemployment and no severance pay that would ordinarily be due to you in the case of a work force reduction. Between early retirement pay (social security) and what I have saved, I can eat with a roof over my head and a place to park the Buick, just won't have a new vette to pick up ladies with.
