soft shift

I was at the track this past weekend I normally keep it in drive to go down the track but I manually shifted this time. 1,2,3 no problem 13.1 et as I was on the way back I stop get time card put it back in overdrive and notice the 1,2 shift is soft as well as 3,4. I can only get it to shift firm when I manual shift put it in drive I can barely feel the shifts and it doesen't downshift. what could this be? Hopefully nothing major

Check tv cable adjustment. Most likely popped loose toward the radiator, locking point looks like a....letter D... where the throttle cable, trans and cruise cables meet.

Engine not running, Push the D in, pull the cable toward the firewall and ratchet the throttle forward all the way, the cable will pop forward a click or two, see if you can finesse it back towards the firewall one more click.

Before you do that, make sure the cable is taunt, the upper cable pulls right off and see if it snaps back, if not cable broke or spring in trans is broke.

thanks for the info I did check the cable to see if it had spring in it it did but I will check again to make sure.I also did the factory setting by sliding cable to firewall and pressing pedal to floor it clicked a couple of times but still same thing I may have to drop pan and look at the cable sping.
