Speedo reads 70, Scanmaster says 60, and I'm holding up traffic. I removed the top cable and speedometer unit and nothing appeared to be broken. I've also noticed the needle bounces a little which I don't remember it doing in the past. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Joel

Well the bouncing needle is usually caused by worn speedo drive and driven gears or a worn driven gear sleeve on the transmission. Do you know if you have an original BRF code trans in your car? How long have you had this problem? Maybe your trans has the wrong speedo gears in it which would account for it being off. Usually if something is wrong with the speedo head it either doesn't work at all or it is way off and the odometer doesn't work. I doubt it is the cable.

Thanks Eric. The tranny is the original which has never been out of the car. The top cable has been cleaned and greased although this did not change anything. The bottom half of the cable has not been removed or examined and neither has the drive gear sleeve. I guess I'll do that next. Joel
