Like it says I spilled some alky on my car while filling the tank. The car was sitting in the blazing sun and the alky left a mark. I had a rag handy and wiped it at once. I then added water to the rag and wiped in again. It’s still much stained. What takes this off?

Your going to have to do a good buffing on it. If you want to, cruise over and we can take care of it anytime! -----Jeremy

Before you resort to any sort of high speed buffing, try to get a good cleaner wax and rub it out by hand, unless of course its a larger area, then I say buff away..

And also, it probably goes w/o saying, but please always use a clean wax pad and microfibers when you wipe down your car, especially black, I'd really hate to see you scratch it or swirl it up;)

No offense but wax is not going to take out a stain like that. And, anybody that would high speed buff a car is a complete moron. You never high speed buff a car.

Placing a towel on the fender when pouring alcohol will prevent any issues.

If the car has a good wax on it.. the meth shouldnt eat through it.. Now if the car hasnt been waxed in a long time.. you get alcohol on it.. then it may stain it.

Good luck with getting the stain out.. let us know how it came out.

Live and learn I guess. I was in a hurry and splashed a little bit. I have a friend coming over this weekend to look at. He used to work in that business so hopefully he can make it go away.

Oh its not? I've gotten brake fluid stains out, acid rain, stains from caustic wheel cleaners, why not alky? And if your last statement is true, I must be the biggest moron on this board. So tell me, whats your way of polishing a car thats been wet sanded? Or making horribly oxidized paint look good? Sure, someone who doesn't know what they're doing and trying to buff may be constituted as a moron, but I've been detailing cars and working w/ paint since I was 14, so I'd like to think I learned a little something along the way

Using a good large waffle pad and LOW speed buffing is the best way to buff a car. Using a buffer at HIGH speed only increases the risk of burning the paint/clear. Also, high speed buffing on a black car is going to increase the chances of swirling. If HIGH speed works for you, go for it. And, I'm not calling you a moron. Only pointing out HIGH speed is not a good idea. But hey, what do I know?

Yeah I def. agree w/ you on that one. We must've just had a misunderstanding. When I said "high speed buffing", I said it loosely to differentiate between hand and machine, not necessarily that the machine was on high. I wanted to be sure he knew what I was talking about. I personally never try to go any higher than 16-1800, and NEVER use a wool pad, I think too much heat breaks down your compound or polish or whatever and doesn't cut the way it should. Sorry bout that bro...

I have seen plenty of people burn their paint up with high speed buffers. Not a pretty site!!! Another idea is just using a paint cleaner as a compound instead of actual buffing compound on things like this. That way you dont have the cut like you would with the compound. Just a few tricks I've learned! I had a problem with my truck this year. I must have driven over road contruction that was cutting metal. I had little tiny rist spots everywhere. What a nightmare. It took me about 2 days with my buffer and a toothpick to get everything out of the paint. I used paint cleaner instead of compound because I knoew it was going to take a lot of buffing to try to get the metal out. It did a great job!

Chadly, if you cant get that out, I'll be happy to buff it out when you head this way for the Meet on the 26th.
