A car thats not over 20 years old
My car is becomming a rattle trap too so don't feel bad. Kirbans does sell a book on how to quite down your door and window rattles, so check that out. As far as the dash if someting is rattling it must be loose. Try to listen and narrow down the area where the noise is comming from. Then see what you can find and tighten up there. Good luck.

Its not to hard to tighten up the dash if you really think thats where the noise is coming from. There are only 9 mounting points holding the dash to the body of the car. Four 7mm headed screws at the base of the windshield. Pull the speaker grille off to see them. Three 10mm headed screws on the bottom. One on the left, one on the right and one under the radio. Two 15mm headed nuts at the steering column support and one more 10mm and one 13mm headed bolt on top of the column support.

You know if the rear hood stop is not adjusted correctly than the hood pops when you go over bumps causing a noise which sounds like it is coming from the base of the windshield. You might try adjusting the hood before you condemn the dash pad as the source of the noise. Door rattles are pretty obvious.

I put grease on the hood stop and that stops the noise as well. Sound like the winshield is bouncing around. Brad
