Good suggestions about Thumper or twins. Thumper was definitely on my mind all along, twins gaining ground :).
I hear all this talk about thumpers. Anyone got a picture of one and what's the advantage over an 88? What's the wheel size and who makes them? I think someone told me that they have a 5" inlet?

What classes would they be allowed in? I assume allowed in the same classes as an 88 with possibly a weight restriction in heads up?

Thanks,

Thumper

Art,

A Thumper is a name that Turbonetics usedto describe
their big race line of turbos. They have a huge center
section and 4 to 6 inch inlets. They need from 4inch
to 5 inch down pipes. A PT-88 is a thumper
sized turbo, but since it is made by Precision it is not
technically a thumper.

Original Thumper Sizes From Turbonetics
88mm
91mm
100mm

Precision has several units also
88mm
91.5mm
94mm
98mm
101mm
106mm
I am not sure if the 94 is still in production

Innovative makes
88mm
91mm
100mm
105mm

There are much bigger compressor wheels in the 150mm range,
but I have not see or heard of their application for automotive racing yet....

Maybe Rod Short could fill us in.

I need to do a little less racing and start doping more site seeing at the track. I'm missing all these peoples cars.... I've seen both of their cars run but never seen under the hood. Time to start branching out!
