OK.......This afternoon I got up the nerve to start on replacing the rear main seal on my 87 GN.........so far I took of the cross over pipe and took off the flywheel cover. I was surprised to find the flex plate and converter dry from engine oil while the cover was coated......also, the rear of the crankshaft where the flexplate bolts to it was dry?? Drained the oil to take the pan off when I get home from work tomorrow night.

Thursday I got a phone call from a friend who did some body work to my 84 Z28.......He had to repaint it cuz he couldn't
match the paint.....I'll start at the beginning......It was painted a ford "apricot" orange (I asked for "69 camaro Hugger orange") with a pearl top coat.......The body work that I had him do was add a "f1" type IROC spoiler, paint the engine bay body color(engine was pulled) and repair front facia chips..........It has been at least 3 years since I pulled the engine and had a 406 SB with AFR heads, TRW forged flat tops with 2 valve reliefs, comp cam,
Edelbrock SY1 intake, Holley 850 double pumper, Hooker Super Competition full length headers(HPC coated) built to put in it.
The engine is backed by a Turbo 400 Transmission with a B&M shift kit and TCI deep aluminium pan with a 2800 stall converter.

As soon as I figure out how to use my digital camera I'll post some pics.

Future plans for the camaro is a Richmond 6 speed and a Currie 9" rear end with 3:73 gears, disc brakes and of course have the interior redone in gray leather/vinyl...........

It will be my daily driver while I have the GN "tweaked" the way I want it............

I'll post on this board my progress of replacing the rear seal and any pitfalls/problems I encounter.......the "instructions" from this board and the gntype board are on the engine for quick reference............

Wish me luck :D
