stock 84 eng to much fuel psi?

i have an 84 gn with stock motor i got used and will build some boost the slows and blows black smoke and seems to miss. prev owner had 87 comp with reds 93 chip,87 coil adapter and hotwire kit with a pos walbro pump. i didnt get any of the eng stuff so i had to use the 84 comp,down pipe,coilpack,fuel reg,but have test tube with 87 kenne bell exhuast.didnt have any codes until i started the other day and had esc code.any suggestions?thanks andy
 
i think you need a lil more info before anyone can give ya some ideas as to what your problem is............


you think your car is rich? why not put a fuel gage on the fuel rail and see what your fuel pressure is? make sure to take the rubber hose off the regulator to get the actual fuel pressure.

if you have the "233" regulator
fuel pressure will be 34-40 psi
if you have the 237 regulaor
fuel pressure will be 37-43



do a couple basics..........
pull a spark plug, make sure they are the proper plugs with the correct Gap on them.
make sure they are ac delco brand the model number is......
AC-CR43TS gapped at .035

check those and do some reaserach on this page and report back lol
