My valve cover oil cover just came off and was laying in my engine bay. I tried finding a quick fix for a replacement screw on cap but none of them fit. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this without taking the valve cover off or any replacement cap I can use till I can get the valve cover off?

I’m confused. Have you lined it back up & just twisted it? Nothing there to fail.

You may need to bend the tabs out a bit to help hold it to the cover.

I can put the neck back in but its very loose. The rubber gasket that compressed it for a tight fit has worn away and is gone. THere's no way to keep the neck in the slot tight.

I have a nice used stock filler cap and tube if you need it. I have after market VC's so it's just sitting.

No rubber gasket.

FWIW, I think '87Turbo"T" hit the nail on the head.
