What I'm trying to figure out is if this turbo will dramatically affect the drivability of my TR. I have a stock motor/head/cam combo (for now). I was contemplating a 6776bb or a 6152bb. I had my converter restalled to 3200 from 3000 and I'm ready to pull the trigger on a turbo just need help deciding which one. I also plan on installing 1.65 rockers if that helps any. My goal is 11.30-40's w/unported heads then 10.20ish once I have the money to rebuild the motor which will be maybe 12-18 months.

So should I get the 6152bb then upgrade when I'm ready or just go straight to the 6776bb?

I'll let ya know Sunday when we get through with my car.

Stock motor with valve springs, RJC PP and a timing chain, good fuel system, PT6776RHP, 4" MAF pipe, Big Mouth cold air, TT Race chip, 3000 stall 10" l/u converter, good IC, 3" THDP, dual 2 3/4" cat back with welded Ultraflow mufflers.
My goals are also reliable 11.30s - 11.40s. I know how this combo spools up with a journal bearing 6776S, I know it's gonna be a lot of fun with the dual bb version.

My opinion, spend once and get the 6776R dbb turbo and never look back.
In the little bit of cruising I've done on this regular journal bearing 6776S turbo, I've had absolutely no driveability issues with it and highly recommend either version for a street car. I should have taken my own advice back in January when I got this car, but didn't. Oh well, lesson learned. It might have had something too do with a back order log or something.
Hope this helps.

Patrick

6776dbb..

especially if ur lookin to build a motor. Im still tuning and working out issues with the suspension now but as it is right now with a roller cam and ported heads, I can spin the drag radials right off the rim if I stay in the throttle from a 30-40mph roll. Its crazy power that takes getting used to. As far as the rockers, I wouldnt bother untill ur building the new motor. So far Ive whipped to big motor big turbo cars all in fun of course with my lil 109. I wont name names ;) , but they know who they are! This turbo is the best thing since sliced bread. Instant street useable power. The driveability issue will be a non factor. It will act like a small turbo, when rolling the throttle but will just pull a whole lot harder.

quickwe4,the67bb can be driven on the street there should be no drivability issues.now you will have a completly different car coming from a stock turbo.in my opinion you should go with the 67bb looking at your future power plans.

THIS IS MY MOTTO! Patrick took the words outta my mouth. Your car will spool fine and drivability is STILL awesome and very fun to drive. I have a similar combo - stock heads and small cam. but i also enjoy ALKY and a front mount "for safety"  I'm finally starting to get it dialed in but, love the spool and the "airplane like" sounds it produces:eek:

I went from a ta-60 to the 6776bb and I am having my converter restalled(a little too tight) But I drove it for a few miles with the tight converter and when the boost came on...

My et street are filing suit against me for rubber loss and emotional distress.:D

i thought you had a 70 DBB in yours rabbit:confused:

Thanks for the input everyone. Looks like my minds made up. 67bb here I come.:D

Is there anything else that I should look at upgrading just for safetys sake besides the obvious (fueling).

What is a good boost level to shoot for with alky and 60's (91 octane)?

Car has 140k and the motor has about 40k according to the previous owner. Dont know who built the motor but it runs strong and has good compression.

Patrick's new PT67 BB was on my car and I had a 3200 non lockup stall with heads and cam on a stock bottom end and the thing spooled just like a stock turbo. It hit full boost by the top of 1st gear and wow did it put you in the seat. Ran time in sig with crappy traction, poor launch, and very bad tune. This is a 100% street car. It should do very well on a stock motor. Just don't blow it up! Or you will be right behind me getting a stroker motor built by DLS :D

Sorry Don, I hope Patrick has better luck!

Contact Dusty Bradford on the boards..hes the PTC rep and he has this new 6776bb/converter combo locked in.(10" 3200 L/U) He is also one of the nicest guys/vendors you will deal with.

Sorry didnt see the post.

The first converter Dusty sent was matched against my friend (Turbo6) He told Dusty his was too loose when he first got it so Dusty had mine made a little tighter. SO actually the "3200" he originally sent was maybe a 2900 rpm converter instead.

After some more seat time Turbo6 said his converter was dead on at 3200 rpm's so thats when I yanked mine and had him restall it to the original specs off of Turbo6.

Have not drove it yet...its been raining down here. But I will let you know how it runs. Ask Turbo6..he will tell you that the converter is 100% matched to the 6776bb. He says its spools almost instantly to 24 psi.

Sounds like a recipe for kicking Cobras butts.
