Ok folks, could I get the real skinny on what's the preferred build? Use the same no. as stock or add more discs (thus thinner steels)? I know each has there opinions but I would like to hear them. I am doing a rebuild shortly and need to hear. Thanks allot for your input.

Definitely stock number on direct. Too much heat for thinner steels to handle. On 4th, go from 2 to 3.

Thanks 87GN, how about it Bruce? What do you recommend and what is supplied in your rebuild kit?
Do you up the # in the 4th clutch?

6 alto red directs with kolene steels in direct drum.the blues will make you blue:eek:

LOL Chris..

Yes 6 in direct and 3 in 4th. I only use Blue Plates in direct. No where else. Clearence in the direct pack is VERY CRITICAL here so do not screw that up. Red Alto or Blue plates will both work well for you. Preference is preference, that is all. No Kolene tho... LOL

Bruce, so what is the clearance in the direct drun that I should shoot for? and what determines this clearance?
