I haven't tackled this particular job yet. It's the last project on the list.
Has anyone tackled replacing the gaskets on stock valve covers but with the HR motor mounts???
Obviously I'll have to remove the A/C heat shield which is no big deal, but will the valve cover still come off even with that heat shield out of the way??

Got my other 3 projects done finally!! Tranny pan gasket replaced with cork. Oil pan gasket replaced with cork. Starter replaced with one for a 96 Corvette Gran Sport (nifty!!).

TIA

I'm running both HR Parts N Stuff Polyurethane motor mounts + their transmission mount too. Had no trouble changing the valve cover gaskets on stock or the aftermarket valve covers I'm running & have my A/C heat shield intact.

Cool. Guess I'll start that project next week. They will be the last of the rubber gaskets on this motor to get rid off. I've had my fill of rubber gaskets. Every single one of them leaked, tranny, engine oil, valve covers.

I just took off a set of the tall TA off without removing the heat shield. Getting the lower left bolt out was the biggest PITA

Like you had the same deal. So went to cork six months ago. Also did the HR motor mounts at the same time. Now my pass side valve cover gasket is leaking again at the back. Looks like I will change that side again. Don't know what the answer is for the leaks

It sounds like there's no particular pieces that have to be removed or modified? Other than the obvious. Heater hose hard lines no concern??

I took a long extension and put it in the lower hardline and moved it out of the way

You said put it IN the lower hardline. Does that mean you had to disconnect the hoses to accomplish the movement?

Yes The heater valve was in the way.

keep in mind mine are the tall TA covers though

I removed the hose's from the hard lines, coming from the heater box. Not at the front of the motor. Then slide the hard lines over toward the dog house

I had to put pushrods in my GN a while back. Went to HR mounts when the motor was out. No problems removing the stock valve covers. Actually was easier. I too dont have the HVAC box heatshield.

I had to remove the heater hard lines to remove my stock passenger side valve cover. I have the H&R motor mounts installed on both sides. Powdercoated the valve cover and had to remove the lines as the only way to avoid scratching the newly refinished valve cover. Each of these cars are just different enough that space tolerances can be different. HTH.

A trick I found for removing the passenger side is to turn the engine over by hand until the last #6 rocker is down. Give's you a little extra room to wiggle it out. I use a socket on the alternator with the belt on.

Doing this helped me. I also removed the heater hoses. Small PITA.

Worn body buschings can bring the body a little closer to the v/c's made more noticeable w/new engine mounts.

Possibly mine will be better then. I don't have worn body mounts. I have poly body mounts. As a matter of fact every mounting point on my car is poly. Body, all suspension points, and motor.

So when you're taking the VC off how do you tell that the #6 rocker is down?
