I thought I would treat myself and sent my throttle body and plenum out to be machined to 62mm last week. The machinist sent it back to me and it arrived Saturday. The postal worker left it on my front step when I wasn't home at 11:37am when they scanned it in as bieng delivered. It was stolen shortley after that because Bethany and I got home around 3pm. Unfortunatley the sender didn't insure it and I didn't think to ask him so I'm out $200 dollars and what ever the parts are worth. If anyone is approached to buy these parts please let me know. Or if you see them online some where in the midwest around Chicago let me know.

Did you make sure they didn't leave it with a neighbor or something? Usually they aren't allowed to just leave a package unattended. What service was it? USPS? UPS? FedEx?

I've had items arrive when nobody was home before and UPS keeps them and tries to deliver them one more time the next day before keeping them at the distribution center and you have to go claim it.

The UPS and Postal service guys in my area will just leave it on the front porch. They just ring the bell and leave.

Good thing I work from home most of the time.

It was USPS and I assumed they would have wanted a signature. The UPS guy is cool I've shown him the engine he sees I'm getting parts from places. I live in a condo thats more like a town home with five other homes attached to it all in a row and my nieghbor next to me saw the postal worker drop it off as he was leaving. I'm home a lot as I get a lot of down time from work and my wife is a kindergarden teacher in this town so she is home for the summer but we were coming back from my buddys wedding that I stood up for and missed the package. Last month my wife forgot to close the garage door over night and someone walked in and stole my mountain bike. This is supposed to be a nice nieghborhood but as soon as I'm done doing the conversion on the GN I'm selling this place. I'm honestly thinking of buying another gun and waiting in my garage one night as it's attached to the home and shooting who ever has the balls to walk in. My wife made me sell my last gun because we have a three year old. Sorry I had to vent.

The sad part is that it was probably just some d*ck walking by, saw the package and took it not knowing whats inside. They probably opened it up and didn't know what it was then ditched it, check all around the neighborhood, they might have just dumped it somewhere after opening up the box.

Already thought about that took a nice long walk this morning looking for it. Unfortunatley yesterday morning was garbage day and all the dumpsters are empty.

I've seen the same down here... One time I literally seen the guy knock on my door once and it looked like he was running!!! I ran out the door (by this time he was already pulling away in his truck) and was like WTF is it a bomb or something?? LOL:eek:

Tell the vendor/machinist you never received the parts, and that he has to make good on it.

What proof does machinist have the parts were even delivered? If the machinst accepted the parts from you, it's his responsibility to guarantee safe return to you.

Seems retarded to ship parts of value without any tracking ...

There was tracking and it shows it as delivered the United States Postal Service scans the item and shows it as delivered when they left it on my front step. But the sender didn't insure it and tells me I should have asked for it. So basically everyone has washed there hands of the matter and has left it up to me to do something.

Ive got a nice ported plenum you can have, send me your addy and ill send it via fed ex signature required.

I think Steve shouldve at least offered his services for free with another tb and plenum supplied by you. That way he wouldve met you in the middle...I had the same thing happen to me years ago on a modded ecm and the vendor made good on another one.

I got an extra throttle body in the attic I can send you. Did you keep all the stuff off of it, arm, iac, tps. You can pm me your address and I'll send it to you UPS.
Tarey D.

... But the sender didn't insure it and tells me I should have asked for it. ...
Sorry to hear that ... IMO the vendor is still retarded for sending parts that were inadequately insured and then blaming the customer (you) for "not telling him" how to ship properly.

What's next ... does he expect you to also instruct him how to properly tape-up the box and how to cushion the goods with styrofoam peanuts ?!

Jeremy, what good do you think it will do to file a paypal dispute stating you didn't receive the pkg when the delivery confirmation reciept shows it was delivered?
I offered a fully equipped TB for $90 less than I'd normally sell it for. That's all I can do. I don't do charity work. If you had some thefts at your place, it's on you to ask for insurance. I sent 600 items out without insurance and had maybe 3 ppl ask for it in 3 years. This is the first item stolen in 3 years fo me. I never add insurance b/c it usually requires the customer to go to the PO and pick it up the next day.

What comes around goes around.

I have stated that and how you didn't insure the package to pay pal and my credit card company along with all of the facts. I wouldn't lie to them about anything as I haven't lied to you about the part being stolen. I didn't have to state to you I was worried about theft because of a previous incedent. I was bieng honest. You email me talking about how I should act like a grown up while in your email you bash other people on the board who have offered parts to me for free. All they have done is openly state that you should be held liable maybe even machine another tb and plenum while I cover parts and you cover labor so you trash talk about them. How grown up is that? I could have come on the boards and bashed you for not insuring a package that you valued at $300-$350 dollars. But I didn't and I won't. I'll take the higher road and let pay pal and my credit card company decide for us. If their out come isn't to hold you responsible fine so be it I won't bring it up again. To have you email me and insult me then turn around and do it on here and most likely the rest of the Buick boards is just childish. This will be my last correspondence with you Steve I want nothing further do do with you besides to get my money back.

Instead of being a stand up guy, throttlebody.com just shows what kind of business they are running. Shipping parts without any kind of insurance is just plain stupid and obviously a lack of business sense/experience. I'm sure others will think twice before using their services.

Not all shipments sent out by anybody is insured.
I do sometimes but not always, if I'm having expensive parts shipped this is something that I talk to the vendor about before shipment...Not afterwards.
I do think it's great that acouple of members have offered parts, but no the BS I see. Sounds to me like Steve tried to meet him half way or was working on it with the $90 off...

This really belongs in feedback since it's turned into a bashingfest

just my .02ct

most vendors do not send parts out insured unless customer requests it...bashing steve is just stupid

I offer a service. It's up to the customer to provide instructions for both the work done and the shipping instructions. One size does not fit all. If you have extra needs, it's up to you to mention that and most sensible people understand that.

The shpg was free. The charge for the work was $200. I don't add insurance b/c 99% of my customers would be inconvenienced if the pkg had to be signed for. The demand for insurance will have to be more than one person out of 200 before I'll consider it.

from USPS web site

An item insured for $200 or less receives a delivery scan. An item insured for more than $200 receives a delivery scan and the recipient's signature.

2.2.3 Parcel Delivery
An ordinary parcel too large to fit into a customer's mailbox is not left unless the customer has filed a written order with the postmaster relieving the USPS and carriers of all responsibility in case of loss or depredation of any such parcel left outside the box.

Depredation –noun the act of preying upon or plundering; robbery; ravage

so he need to file a claim with USPS
