Anyways that my two cents, and I'm not trying to start a BFG/Nitto spat with ya Sully.I have just spent alot of time with the BFG's and have no complaints.

Hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Whatever works for you.

To answer the Toyo to BFG barb.No that wasn't how it went as much as you may have assumed.

1st it wasn't a barb.
2nd it wasn't even a reply to anything you said. It was a reply to 87Natl's post on why there are such varying opinion on things. I guess I should have quoted.

I could have just as easily said if a guy went from Toyos to <Insert Drag Radial Brand Name here> and his car isn't that fast and he was able to spin his Toyos with no problems but not his <insert Drag Radial Brand Name here> he would think they hook the best ever. AN explanation for why there are so many different opinions not why your opinion is based on less information than mine.

For me the BFGs lasted less the 10K, hyrdoplaned like a SOB anytime there was a decent rain, and didn't hook anybetter for me.

The Nitto's @18 PSI pressure hooked better, handled way better in the rain and have lasted over 20K.

In case I wasn't clear, my Point is this:

For traction drag radials suck. ET Streets, ET Drags or the like are the only tires I think hook worth a damn. Et Streets are too soft for everyday use if you drive your car everyday. Sidewalls are to soft to handle worth a damn in normal driving too.

When forced to drive my car on radials, for overall Value, Peformance, wear and street manners I prefer the Nittos.

Much clearer Sully.I guess since I was the only one who brought up the BFG I assumed you were talking about me for instance.I guess I better quit assuming eh?

A lot of it depends on the car.

I think you are most likely right with this statement above all, because we obviously have a big difference of opinion between the BFG and Nitto.I guess I would also add "it depends on the driver" as well.Hand in hand.So I guess 87 natl is hung out to dry and will have to try both tires to make a true comparison as to what works the best for him.:)

I didn't really read all the posts... just kinda tossed my 2 cents in. If I remember correctly, I could 60' in the 1.7s with either of them with neither of them being significantly different. But I like to 60' 1.4s so I use ET Drags. Going to the track Sat for a little testing maybe I will make a few passes on the nittos and see what I can get.

Guys, I really appreciate the heated debate. I'm listening....

As it so hapens, a buddy of mine is picking up a set of Nittos, and I will se if he will let me borrow them for a few days for a test run.

To see if I am getting the gist of things....You guys are debating what is probably a minimal difference between the two in dry traction ON THE STREET(This is what I am asking about after all, the only thing for the track is slicks) but a bigger difference may be in how they handle the rain. Right?

My car gets driven quite a bit, though not everyday, and I invariably get caught in the rain at times . So in the interest of not taking MY life and the life of my GN (heaven forbid) the better chice would be the Nittos?

Yes I would tend to agree with the statement that the Nitto's are better in the rain.I make that statement based on my time with my Mustang however and not with my GN.I had both tires on the Mustang and the Nitto's were better in the rain hands down. Now in the Gn I did not notice any difference between the two for whatever reason I'm not sure.My car is a daily driver and was my only transportation for a year here in Florida. In case you aren't familar with Florida it rains quite often.Never had a problem. Not one hyrdoplane, donut,or such.I still think the BFG is the way to go on the street for traction. It will not give you the miles you will get out of a set of Nitto's though, and I guess Sully and I have have pretty much established the fact that it depends on your car,and how you drive it,as to which tire winds up being better for you.

Just a side note...I don't know what you have for wheels but I don't think the BFG 275/60 will go on a stock rim(never tried).I do know the Nitto 275/50 does so that might also sway your choice between the two.

Oh I am very familiar with Florida. In fact I will be down there this weekend.:D

I'm down there several times a year, and you guys get those sudden afternood showers that come out of nowhere. No doubt you get caught out in it. As far a Florida being flat, i don't realy think that matters much. It's not climbing hills in teh rain that concerns me, it's hydroplaning at 60mph on the highway.

I can already see what is going to happen...I'll test out my frinds Nittos, and then go and buy a set of BFGs. And then if I donl't like them as well I'll sell 'em off cheap and go get the Nittos. Yeah, that sounds about like me...

These are still the same as the ones you had I believe Sully. The ones you had a link for have been getting good feedback from the zing zing guys, but that's about all I could tell you about those. The ones in the link I posted are the ones I have on my GN.

I will be interested to see what winds up working better in your test.Really I am no way affiliated with BFG or a spokesperson of theirs..LOL.Let me know if you get a set of the BFG's and don't like them.I am almost due for a set soon.

When you sell the no good BFG's i want first in line lol, watch
out for the Cadillac Escalade brownish/silver, PWC finest on
Hoadly, PW parkway and 234.

Oh you heard about that? Neil told me the same thing.

Guess I better watch myself. I've been known to be pretty bad on 234. ;)

That's my favorite test strip.

Damn, so we've got purple and green Camaros, and now an Escalade we have to look out for. What's next, a Volvo?

The ET streets are nothing more than ET-Drags with some grooves drawn on

Not entirely true...they are both made from the same compound but the sidewall on the ET Street is stiffer...
