I had a GN with this servo,3-2 downshift was terrible. Thought it was gonna break something. I took it out replaced it with stock GN servo. Much better. I have sinced learned the big cushion spring should be left in. I am considering putting in my latest experiment.

Took it out tonite and noticed the big piston that sits in the cover only has the inner seal on it. And the little steel piston has no seal/ring on it either. This is exactly the way it came outta the trans and it worked.I just want to be sure it's okay before I stick it in.

Thanks:smile:

Most builders leave out that scarf cut ring on the inner piston. You should be using cushion springs as you have found out of you will get a lot of banging on downshifts and possibly a broken anchor pin if its violent enough. The super servo will work better than a stock one if set up properly.

Thanks,I have been searching and that is also called the 3 gear accumulator? Anyway it has no ring, that's okay, the actual piston has groove for 2 lip seals and only the larger one(closest to the case) is there the smaller is MIA.

I also notice that the GN inner piston has a small orfice in it that the Super servo does not. Maybe this is why no small lip seal?

My bad i didnt read your first post closely enough. The inner piston is part of the 3rd accummulator. The big piston should have both seals on it facing away from each other.

Okay got my hands on my buddies trans that has a GN servo that is missing the small lip seal also. The orfice is drilled and tapped so it won't allow ATF in there why is this?

What will happen if I run my super servo with only the large lips seal,3rd accum ring and cushion spring?

Not a lot of info out there by searching,I am starting to think stock set-up will be best.

The cushion spring will soften the 3-2 coast down clunk if that's what you are refering to.

Yup,gt that covered. Now looking for an explanation about the mods to the servo in post #5:)
