And it wasn't welcome. I was in the house cleaning and looking for something when my dogs started barking. This is a fairly common thing but what's not common is when they start whining. Well I walk to the back door and my retriever mix starts running in and out, whining, and sniffing at the area under the porch. Once in a while a cat will come in and get under the house and this happens, but this time it wasn't a cat. I had the lovely odor of wood kitty hit my nose the second I walked out. I live in the country so smelling one isn't uncommon but I've never seen one in the yard until today. I called the land lord to bring his shotgun. Once he got here I turned on the hose and started spraying under the house. Corky saw a bushy tail move from one side to the other so I changed direction of the spray to get it out. I ended up pulling one section of the under pinning up and nothing.
I walked over to the fence to say something to Corky and he starts to walk off when I catch something black and fluffy coming out. Grabbed my shotgun and one blast later the wood kitty would do no more damage, but when I shot it, it sprayed one last time under the house since the shotgun blast knocked it back under.
The worst part is my house has the faint odor of skunk and I had to go under the house to get the body out.
I was smart enough to flip a garbage bag inside out and put my hand inside so I wouldn't have to touch it, but the smell was almost over whelming to say the least.
Thought you guys and gals might get a laugh out of it and I'm sure others that live in the country can relate to this.
