I attended Dave Morgan's suspension class on Sat. and the workshop today at Mezirie in Escondido. Reg and Pete (Petesgn) were also in attendance and we mapped out both GN's and measured the corner weights. Both cars had some binding (Reg had some rear shock issues and my bind has yet to be discovered but I think it is in the front lower control arms). What an eye opener for me. My car weighed in at 3500 lbs (race ready with me in the car) and 54% of the weight was on the front. I also had too much pinion angle (7.5 degrees). A lot of opportunities to go faster.

Thanks for the invite! :) 54% on the front is perfect! You also want more weight on the driver rear to compensate when under load. My new setup came in at 57/43 with 120lbs heavier on driver rear. This should keep the wheelies to a minimum and the truck in a straight line. My pinion angle is -3.5deg and seems to "like it". Did he discuss front end limiters?

I did post this a while back and the only one to respond was Pete. I should have re-posted when I got conformation that Dave was coming into town.
He mentioned front end limiters but did not go into it and I forgot to bring it back up. He spent some time on shock dyno sheets and different shock technology as well as springs and matching the spring to the weight of the car and the shock travel.

very informative Dave is a great instructor highly recomemded class, as said in class most spend lots of time spent tuning the engine by but very little tuning the suspension to put it to the ground :D

I really wish that I would have posted this again. We could have used more participants. Don you would have liked Dave, he was well versed in all types of racing and could get very technical. He wrote a book about 30 years ago called "Chassis Suspensions for Doorslammers" (I think that is the title). He discussed a new shock coming out that would do away with the spring and anti sway bar. I think he said that he saw this at the PRI show in the Penske booth. It must be gas and all electronic.
