I`m a big fan of these trucks, but just wondering are these faster then the GN back in the day? and with mods do they equal the power of the GN today.....and What was the 1/4 mile times of these trucks from the factory?

The Syclone, due to its AWD and weight, was actually quicker. They were low 13's high 12 cars in stock form with a good launch. The Typhoons were heavier and probably comparable to a GN with decent tires. They can run pretty quickly with today's technology like our Buicks, but I hear they are not reliable at high HP. I could be mistaken.

Both were AWD Zak. I believe the pickup was slightly faster because it weighed less. Do a search for the tysy forums and I'm sure they can answer your question.:)

Charlie, you are 100% correct. I knew that, but I think my post was not clear.

Yeah check out syty.net. I have a 93 ty basic mods, I have the new tt chip in there. Out of many rebuilt and modded tys mine is kinda quicker, at 126k it still has alot of power. But my gn will walk all over my ty, the only time a sy o ty will beat my gn is in the rain or snow. As for the sy or ty being quick the sy wins all day by .5 in the 1/4 just b//c of weight

I have both, a GN and a Ty. The Sy should be faster than the Ty because it's lighter with the same powertrain. The Ty is a fun truck to drive, 0-60 is blast coming out of the whole with all wheel drive but it kind of falls on its face after that. I have few mods on mine but nothing radical, maybe low 13's. I was told to leave it alone because it can't take the abuse like the Buick V6 can. The Sy/Ty maybe be slightly faster than a GN stock VS stock but the all the stuff you have out there for a GN, it's not even a match. The Sy/Ty is harder to work on also compared to a GN.
Even though I love my Ty, as far as the power is concerned, I had more respect for it before I owned one but it's still an awesome truck.
