Getting a new tranny soon, and will have a brake. Just wondering what I need to upgrade so I don't have to worry all that much about the drivetrain? The driveshaft has new spicers in it, I have a Metco loop, but the rearend/posi/axles are stock. A T/A girdle is on the list of things to do, what else should be? I'm not planning on more than a 10# launch on a pair of 275/55/16 M&H DR's.

- Axle tube brace kit to compliment the rear end brace cover. You will see a lot more axle tube deflection on trans brake launches and it won't take long before you start to bend the axle tubes. LPW Racing
- 1/2 wheel studs
- Metal valve stems all around
- C-clip eliminators to be NHRA legal.
- TCI transmission scatter shield that goes over the top of the transmission. Again to be NHRA legal.
- Stronger than stock driveshaft as eventually, you will break the stocker even with upgraded U-joints. I highly recommend Denny's driveshaft, as they have a very good warranty program on their top of the line drive shafts. If I remember correctly, it was something like, if you ever break it, we'll replace it for free type of warranty. Can't beat that.
- And depending on the power, you might want to consider upgrading the posi traction unit and gears in the future. But for now, you should be ok as even with stock gears and the stock posi unit, they can live into the mid to high 1.4x 60 foot times for awhile.
- Because of the shock that the suspension will be going through, you might want to consider rear poly upper and lower control arm bushings, as well as a poly trans mount.

Just a few things I would consider changing now while you're at it.

Thanks Patrick! That axle tube brace kit looks great! I do have longer studs and tubular lca's with polybushings, but should do something with the uppers. C-Clip eliminators won't move the tire further out will it?
Appreciate the tips:D

C-Clip elims, if done right, shouldn't affect tire position at all. Now, some will pipe up that c-clip elims will eventually leak on a street car. Some say yes, some say no, but I never had any problems with any leakage on my grey car, and I did drive it on the street quiet a bit.
