hey i was reading old posts about turbo 400s and thrust bearing failures. does this problem only pertain to those using transbrakes? if not, what would i need to tell someone building the trans to watch out for or do a certain way? i dont plan on using a trans brake and DO NOT want to screw up a brand new rotating assembly. also, i want to be able to put the car in drive and drive it around but also have the ability to up shift it manually (like the stock shift pattern), how is this accomplished? im not sure what all this reverse/forward pattern, manual/auto VB talk means either.

thanks

Line pressure in the 400 needs to be limited to no more than 160 psi. More than this could cause thrust bearing overload especially with the t-brake on and torque going into the trans.

Properly restrict the torque converter feed passage in the pump cover and you can run as much line pressure as you need.
