When I take my foot off the gas of my 87, the turbo flutters, it is most definatley compressor surge. Whats an easy way to fix this.

BOV or ported shroud. Not sure if the ported shroud is available for that turbo tho

thats what i thought, but just wanted to ask people more knowledgeable than me. I never had to install a BOV, but my import friends say there is a little welding involved.

It's not compressor surge, it's compressor sneeze. Surge generally happens on part throtte acceration, and other odd times of mis matched intake components.

Just turn the radio up so you can't hear it. It isn't hurting anything

its normal nothing wrong. if you want to sound like an import then get a blowoff valve

Skip the blow-off...the turbo sneeze is there to let the imports know what you have. My 72mm is pretty loud even on spool up.
