i know the comparisons between these turbos have been beaten to death, but i thought this would be a very handy thread for people (like me) who are stuck between the TA49, TE44 and the TE60.

could everyone post up their 1/8 mile times/mph and 1/4 mile times/mph if you are using either of these turbos. also include stall, garret or pte turbine housing etc, and other upgrades on the car.

thanx!

Don't forget the PT51 and PTE51 turbos there in the mix somewhere. :p

PTE51.

3000 stall single disk vigilante.

Pump gas and SMC alky dual nozzle staged 2nd nozzle 21psi.

24 psi. boost, 21 degree timing in 3rd. 23 degrees 1st and 2nd.

11.93 at 114, 1/8th mph 91. Locked converter.

Car also ran 11.90 at 111.5 unlocked with a slightly better 60ft.

3780lb. race weight.

1.73 60 ft.

95% max. dc on Bosch 42lb. injectors.

No dyno numbers on this car.

Mease stretch stock intercooler, Marks cold air kit, stock MAF, 62mm throttle body, mease downpipe, hollow cat., ATR 3" crossflow system, HR parts rear suspension bar, uppers and lowers.

Turbotweak alky. chip.

ta60 here. went 11.688 at 117 mph. 21 pounds of boost with a high 1.8 60ft. pump gas and alky of course.:D

11.30-11.50 depending on launch. PTE Ta-49, stock d5 restalled to 2800 and 1.55 60's ...... 95mph in 1/8th...... This is at 25psi on 93 octane and alky.

THDP
50# inj.
PP
K&N
DOT's
Subframe connectors
3'' maf pipe
Valve springs
Thats about it.

All of the below is with a 2700 stall convertor:
With a TE6031E, which has a small 31E exhaust wheel, with a PTE .63 AR exhaust housing I went 7.23 @ 95 mph 1 time, could never match it again, all other runs went 7.4x at 94-95mph with a 1.66 60'.

Then with a 6131E, which has the same GT61 compressor as the PT61, but has the smaller 31E exhaust wheel, same PTE .63 AR exhaust housing, every pass was in the 7.2x range, with 7.23 @96mph being the best. 60' best was again 1.66.

Both turbos were ran at 24-27# boost and 24 degrees of timing, both made the best times at 24-25# of boost. This was with C116.

Now I have alky, no times yet, but on the dyno the 6131E produced 405rwhp/484rwtq with 24# boost and 22 degrees of timing on pump 93 gas.
I chose the 6131E over the TE60 because spoolup felt the same, 60' times were identical (there was no tire spin either), but the 6131E seemed to perform more consistantly and felt like it was still pulling at the end of the 8th more.
Will have some 1/4 times next weekend.

Oh, I could build 12# of boost on the foot brake, but it does take a few seconds, a 3000 stall would be perfect.

Pure street trim with regular radials, 91 octane,14psi, 18 degree street chip, I went 12.9@110.3mph. Had some lag issues due to an exhaust leak but normally it spooled great. Turbo was a Limit Engineering TA 49 with a Garrett .63 exhaust. Convertor was stock D5.

those turbos are soooo close in size its amazing that the ET and MPH change with each.
i had a te44 on my bone stock long block and a D5
50s
stretch
DP
hooker exhaust
reds 107 with alot of boost- 28-30psi its only 18° and you need to run lots of boost to make power.

11.2-11.3 119-120MPH car weighs 3500 dry

te60 spools slower than the others, 49 looks like a stocker

PT51 turbo here, stock long block, 206 cam only exception. Orange Crush 3000 stall, powerstroke, 50s, ATR DP.

I was very impressed. :)

I just installed a TE 60 with a 3200 stall 50lb injectors and alky. i previously ran 12.25 @ 109 with stock turbo, stock injectors and stock stall. I am hoping for mid 11's with my new goodies. I will let you know after this weekend when I visit the track.

Take care

I don't think you'll have a problem hitting mid 11's, appears you know how to tune! Best I ever did with stock turbo was 7.8x in the 1/8, had done a 12.40 in the 1/4 but that had a 8.0x 1/8th time and had not ever went back to the 1/4 mi track since then as there are 1/8th mi tracks all over here.

As you know, the tune is everything. Plus it always helps to have people who know more than you help tune your car.

Take care.
