I have a I-pad, the geek people at best buy has my PL working with my I-pad

Can you elaborate on the iPad solution? I have the PL working on a windows 8 tablet, a PC brick with a virtual network and an iPad screen, but I'd like to try and get it running on just the iPad.

The whole thing is over my head. That's why I went to Best Buy. Two techs work on this. One said it could not be done. The other one got it working in less then 30 minutes.

You will need an OTG cable to go from the micro USB to regular USB (http://www.amazon.com/CNE16187-Micr...UTF8&qid=1385491236&sr=8-1&keywords=otg+cable) and you will need to follow the windows 8 install instructions for the powerlogger.

from what I hear, windows 8.1 has made it harder to use unsigned drivers (the procedure has a couple more steps)

Surface PRO yes, regular surface no. The regular surface does not run regular windows apps as it is Windows RT not really Windows 8.

I would really be interested in Android solution! I use my Android tablet now with my BOD II scanner and really like it.
