Tail light fuse keeps going out

Back in April, my tail light/dash light fuse went out. Not a big problem, I put a new fuse in and the problem was solved. In the past week the fuse has blown 3 times. I've stocked up on 20 amp fuses for the time being, but has anyone else had this problem? What's the best way to troubleshoot it?

Make sure the ground in the trunk is good. They can corrode after 25 years or so ;) . Should be by the left fender well if I remember correctly.

Recheck all your rear taillights even if they appear to work . You could have a loose filiment and could be grounding a bulb when you hit a bump or something.

Probably the shifter lamp light wire broken off and shorting on the metal there.

For some reason it likes to take out the 20A tail lamps fuse before it takes out the 5A INST/LPS fuse.

The 20A Tail Lamps fuse feeds the 5A Inst. Lps. fuse.

Pop the shifter plate off and take a look.
