te 62 vs te 64-1

can anybody tell me what the diff. between the two are i took off the te 62 and put a te 64 -1 both have .63

That's also my experience. If I were you I will stick with the 64. When those TE62 (small shaft) initially came out in the mid 90's, we had bought 5 of them because it was the best and the latest in the market according to the vendor that was producing it. Anywhere from 200 miles to 1000 miles they all went bad. I was told may excuses from contamination in the oil to bad batch of bearing in the turbo. Another reputable vendor told me that if you run a small shaft 62 in a 4 bolt housing it will survive. He said the GN 3 bolt housing created some sort of vibration or resonance that it made the 62 go bad. I still have one of them on my shelf, I don’t want to take a chance of getting it rebuild to find out that its not going to last. I also think it might have to do with a big wheel on a small shaft. Then again the 6776 is a small shaft and it is doing fine.

Both use a p-trim exhaust.
The 62 actually has a 59mm compressor wheel, where the TE-64 (PTE) uses a 66mm wheel. Slightly misleading on the sizes.
Also as pointed out, the 62 uses the small shaft.

I used a TE-62 from Limit for years with no failures. Although, the early 62`s did seem to have a lot of issues for whatever reason.

If it has a Ptrim wheel.. then its a large shaft. Now the largest small shaft exhuast wheel is the 69trim, which is used on PT54's, 61's, and small shaft 67's.

That is true. I believe the TE62 had a change early in it's life over to a large shaft P-trim turbine wheel.
The 6176 and 6776 are the only two that still use the small shaft P-trim wheel.

6376 (also known as the T63E and TE45), 6676 (also known as the T64E and TE45a), 6876 (PT68 P-trim) & 7076 (PT70 P-trim) are all big shaft P-trim turbine wheels.
