Well lets start off by saying Im a returning Buick owner. I owned a 86' Designer many years ago. I now have a 86 GN.
My question is I have aquired a car and the mods are about to start.
Stock Block and modified tranny w 2200 stall

Now here is where it gets good.
Parts going in the car and are already ordered:
Champion CNC iron heads
K1 H beam rods-stock length
Forged Diamond pistons .030 over
Front mount IC KJC??
PT 60-1 turbo
60lb injectors
Forged crank-stock length
SFI balancer
SFI flyweel
3in stainless DP
Flowmasters

Stock upper and intake are on the car. Stock rockers too.

I thought about using the stock cam but would like to get everything I can out of this car. It does have a different MAF that seems to have some type of adapter on it and a box in line.
Obviously I need it tuned after it goes back together but my questions are:
What kind of power can I expect and what kind of times will this car see in a perfect world ie; track, traction tune... I would like to see deep 11's and maybe a high 10....

If a cam is a good idea what do you recomend?
Any more info I might be missing Im open to all info cause it has been 15yrs since I have been into the TB game and I know things have changed.
Thanks,

Welcome back pilgram!

You may find yourself a little behind on the technology curve. You really should have come on board and did a lot of reading to get yourself up to speed as to what has been happening w/the TR advances. Besides the diffeence in expenses, we have a lot more choices in hardware, electronics, etc. you are going to be surprised by the advanements. so much so you may want send back some of those parts you already ordered!:biggrin:
Have you decided on a HP level and whether it is for street, street&strip, or a particular class of racing? Those decisions will help us to help you better. hooking up w/other TR owners in yoiur area, will be a big help to your learning curve as well. To just touch on a few areas, there are data-logging w/the power-logger added to the 2.1 scanmaster, the 2-step for better launches on the foot-brake, roller cams, strokers, higher compression ratios, better trans&convertor options, fuel system upgrades including big injectors, ball-bearing turbos, larger intercooler, better air distribution in the int.manifolds, big valve/runner aluminum heads, etc. (Am I boring you yet?:biggrin:) You get the idea. You probably wish you never left the TR scene now, right? or never came back!:eek::biggrin:
Again, Glad to Welcome you back and I know)one day) you will be glad you returned to the darkside. ENJOY!!!

Replace the 1st 3 main caps with the steel ones or add a girdle to the block. The forged stuff is heavy compared to the stock crank and will need the extra support. ARP main studs also.
Go with a hyd. roller cam. 206,210,212 one of those are good and popular.
Bigger turbo too. The 63mm is a good one to start with.

Chips, Alky and a conveter will be things to add when the motor is done. The 2200 stall may be more suitable on the shelf...:p

OK so I need to replace 1-3 main caps. Ill get them on order.
Already have a bigger front IC.

I will be balancing the rot assm.

update the turbo is a PT 6152E not the 60-1 I thought before. So is this a decent turbo?
I figured it would be great since I have heard of guys running 11's on stock turbos.
as far as the Scanners and stuff I will cross that road when we find a local tuner that has a preference. It has some sort of Dial thing in the center console that dials from 1-6 I was told that will change the tune but I have no idea. I know it was for a stock is tuned car before so that will change.

I decided on the iron Champion heads because I would like to not worry to much about heat wapage.

Any more suggestion.

My goals are above high 10's or very low 11's.
