I am installing new oil pressure and water temp gauges in my car and read where I should use teflon paste instead of tape. I looked at the local Ace hardware and this is all I could find:

Pipe Thread Compound TFE Paste
White/Slow setting
non-hardening.
Use on Water, steam, natural and LP gas, oils, fuels, and dilute acids.

Is this okay to use?

Yeah thats the stuff. The tape can get into the end of the sending unit and cause a bad reading.

Better check first with the manufacturers installation instructions to be certain that this is recommended for your particular sending unit!

Be careful using this as only certain sending units are able to use it. The instructions for my VDO sending units cautioned against using any teflon paste or tape sealant on the threads, as the ground is dependent on the sending unit installed without this. If tape is used the sending units will not function.

Dont try to use that on head bolts/studs. Get the Permatex one at the auto store.

My oil sender said not to use it because it could effect the ground but I was afraid it would leak oil. So I used some:confused:
