My OTC Monitor is only showing a reading of 86 degrees even when I know the car is warm (have been driving for over 30 minutes). I was wondering if there is some way that I can test to see if the sensor is still functioning properly. I was thinking there must be some way to test the resistance or something so I know if I need to replace the temp sensor or my OTC.

Thanks!

i would just replace the sensor they are only like 8$ at advance auto parts i doubt its your otc

Resistance for the coolant sensor are as follows (temps in farenheit):

210*/185ohms,160*/450ohms,100*/1800ohms,70*/3400ohms,
40*/7500ohms,20*/13500ohms,0*/25000ohms,
-40*/100700ohms.

If you disconnect the CTS, does the temp reading on your scantool read below 30*C (79*F), if not check your grounds and ECM, if so, then the sensor is probably faulty. Is there a fault code?
