I am putting a built th350 behind a GN motor for a while until I can afford a fully built 200. I was wondering how I hookup the kickdown cable. They use a kickdown cable to shift right and not a vacuum modulator like a th400? I know poeple run them I just need some info.

thanks,
Joe

TH350's use both kickdown cable and a modulator. The modulator senses engine load and raises/lowers line pressure accordingly. Cable can be left unhooked and will still function...unlike a 200-4R or 700-R4 which need the Throttle Valve cable to live.

I want to hook the kickdown cable up though. I want this trans to operate perfectly, and like an automatic. How can I hook up the modulator if it runs off vacuum and I am creating boost? Im scraping here guys help me out.

Thanks,
Joe

There is actually a detent cable and a vacuum modulator on the th350. If you remove the detent cable, you will loose the automatic down shift function.
Now the other problem is with the vacuum modulator. When applying boost it can make the upshifts funky.
B&M used to sell a box that replaced the modulator and had a cable attached to it. Eric Schertz at Dynotech had told me about it before. Not sure it it is still available. You will need a different trans crossmember, as well as a high stall convertor and some other incidentals to do the th350 swap. Nothing is cheap. If you were planning to do a th2004r, then spend the money now as you wont be able to recoup all those things needed to get the th350 going.

It is a swap so my car is currently set up for a metric 200 so i think the th350 is a bolt it. I really want the auto downshift function and non-funky upshifts. I see other people have these in their car do they jsut live without the detent and stuff?

I bought it to go behind a 455 big block but got a TR motor instead

Thanks,
Joe

Might want to look for a modulator from a diesel I think they were cable operated. Might still take some tweaking though.

Call up dynotech, he just might have a B&M mechanical modulator ... ;)

thanks that will help solve half the puzzle......now about hooking up the kickdown...........

How about some linkage & brackets for cruise control, for the extra cable.

Jim

the detent can be retrofitted from some vehicles that have a 350 or you can just get a kit from lokar or someone that is a general purpose type...

thanks a lot for the suggestions guys I'll tell how it worked out when i get it running.
