Just picked up a th400, only has a b&m transgo shift kit, so still auto valve body that i can shift manually if i want, any recommendations on speedo gears or govener adjustments? Im a transmission noob. Going to maybe fab up the linkage for column shift for now..

Im worried about the pump pressure taking out the thrust bearing not sure if i need to modify anything to prevent this or if it is a real problem?

Also need to pick a converter, car is a hot air, TA33 turbo, downpipe, uppipe e85. Stall recommendations?

Thx

The cooler line pressure has to be checked u don't want it over 40 psi if it's is hutch transmission has the fix

I'm at work when I get home I'll send u a picture where I checked mine and the pressure gauge I used to do it your converter selection will be a huge part of it and the will depend on a lot of things turbo cubic inch weight of the car and so on

The general consensus is that on a modulated pressure regulated auto shift trans you will probably be OK without modifications. This begs another question as to how you plan to manage the vacuum modulator ?

What do i need to do? Im trying to research that now, i know i need a check valve but i dont understand how wheh vacuum is applied to the transmission how it effects it. I mean once i start to build boost vacuum lowers until it becomes a positive pressure, unless the check valve will keep all the max vacuum the engine first starts to produce?

The vacuum modulator controls the line pressure. I never ran an auto shift but some run the manual linkage conversion in place of the modulator.

Where can i find the manual linkage modulator?

I used a mechanical modulator that i bought from Transtar part # 40 M to make the th400 shift automatically.

Later on i bought a vacuum valve and an adjustable modulator to better fine tune the shift points and it worked well. I forget where i bought the vacuum valve setup it's been to long ago.
