First I apologize for being way behind tonite as its the day before I leave for the GS Nats.

Second Tuesday probably will not hear form me at all until Wednesday late. Game plan is on this thread wil give you updates and my impressions of GS Nats....and see if a 50 code or 100 code can be found on the grounds.

Pete who works for us is already there as are a few other Buicks even though nothing gets under way until later on Tuesday.

With that in mind I will go thru the above answers in the next posting to keep things straight.

first, no one has hit the answer as of yet as to the one year only turbo car I am seeking.

second it is a factory car from the factory.

The turbo Trans am is a nice guess, but I think most readers would agree, their is no way I would make it that simple one reason I stated it has to be the one I am thinking of!

Mr Phone and his Plymouth colt guess is wrong they made that Plymouth turbo colt several years...so that answers out.

The Syclone is not correct made that in 1991 and 1992 and the Typhoon would also be wrong made that in 1992 and 1993. Save someone guessing that.

The Pontiac Grand Prixs I don't show a turbo in 1989 but I do in 1990 in my books however both those answers are wrong.

Ford 1984 Escort good guess appears to be a one year only option however, that is not the one I am thinking of either.

Corvair, I am not up on that but I am almost positive they made them more than one year. You may be rite however, it is not the answer I am seeking either.

Pontiac Firebird had a turbo in 1980 and 1981 so it was not a one year wonder and also is not correct.

The info I have quoted above is 99% accurate as its based on old price guide books that actually list the turbo option for given models and years.

All the guesses so far are good and some even are one year wonders, you just have not hit the one year wonder that I have as my answer.

I am not going to have my library with me when I am at the GS Nats this week so I can't back up my answers until I return just tell you if you are wrong....or rite.

Trying my best to slow down the winners of the contests!!!!

Dennis, is there an RPO code for woodgrain insert and bezels around the speedo and radio?? Friend has an 86 GN that the RPO and dash VIN matches and says WE2 but has woodgrain interior. He bought the car in 93 and it was in there when he got it. Ever seen anything like that before??

More on the trivia answers. The Yugo answer is also wrong. This car has been the but of many jokes in recent times. I actually have an original dealer service sign for Yugo and some sales literature. Can you imagine being a PR gu writing the literature and making it appeal to the American Public?

This car's quality was about 30 years behind anything else that was introduced during that time frame. They made 27 convertibles, so among Yugo collectors that would be the rare one to buy. The sales literature says the convertible top operates quicker than a Porsche. I somehow doubt a person shopping for a Porsche would also consider a Yugo!

Mr Phone other guess is a Saab. I have not researched the model however, that is not the car I am thinking of.

Interesting story on Saabs. Maybe 6-7 years ago I went to look at a BMW 3 series like a 1987 model a wholesaler was selling. I looked over the car and it was not as nice as advertised. He then told me he had a black Saab turbo car with a tan interior with around 130,000 miles on it that was absolutely showroom condition.

SInce I was already there I went around to his other building to look at this Saab he had just gotten in. I think he wanted like $4500 for the car. I was more than impressed. This car was like showroom. Trust me I have alot of experience with black cars....the leather still smelled new inside and still had the tag on the leather showing what brand it was. No sun fade no nothing....I drove the car ran 100%...granted its goofy having the ignition switch on the floor.....not a quick car to my thinking but handled nicely.

I said I would sleep on it...(real meaning I wanted to check with a buddy who knew these cars before jumping the gun).

After checking with him I bought the Saab the next day. Advertised it to my Buick members in my monthly newsletter at the time. One of my Buick customers had a friend that was into Saabs. He calls me drills me on the car which I have little knowledge on other than it is a stand up example.

Customer is from New York and says he will pay this service to come check it out a 150 point service on the car and report back to him. Service guy comes checks it out everything works except the casette player. Guy buys the car...loves it bugs me every few months back then to see if I got in any more Saabs...

true story....

The point? If the car is super mint and like showroom, a buyer is out there even if its an "oddball" car. In the Saab world it was the rite color combo also black with a tan gut 5-speed turbo. Miles is not an issue on a Saab either......

I know of several people that have changed out the interior to the wood grain look over the years. It is not factory. A true wood grain would also include the door moldings as well. Since he did not buy it new 99% certian one of the previous owners did the switch. GN code points to only having GN related interior....both parts you are talking about only take about 5 minutes to switch and are far more common than what is correct.

Years ago I used to sell chrome trim for brake and gas pedal...never offered on our cars but out there they are on some cars and look 100% factory, they are fatcory but just not on the turbo regals....

Dennis

the only thing else that i can find/think of is the inspected sticker on the end of the radiator tank just below the cap.

i'm still thinking hard

well of course the 2 paper bands located on the headlight harness on the driver side wiring and the band on the cruise control wiring/vac lines(has 5367 on it)

damn labels

kirban 2 cents worth

great effort but still wrong....cruise is an option so that is wrong because it would not appear on every example.

No wire harnesses are included...

If I tell you the answer do I get a prize?

Member can't be that hard both are still on my 77,000 miles Turbo-T....

One of your answers is getting closer though

New trivia contest

NO previous winners eligible nor Buick employees.

Its the mid 1990s....you are the original owner of a 1987 Turbo Regal.

What 3 paper decal stickers could possibly be at this point that was not present when your car was new.? I am referring to being visible under your hood. Exclude the battery.

This question is tricky. Note how I worded it.

Prize value $50

Going to kill 2 birds with one stone -

The Mazda zoom zoom car is the wrong answer and before we get going down the wrong path:

The car that is the answer is not nearly that new!!!!

The Shelby GLHS I am familar with that car....and wondered why it took so long to guess but unfortunately, it too, is the wrong answer.

Once in awhile I can strike a question that drags on for awhile may have hit one here....

That Shelby you mentioned was probably the only bright spot in the Omni-Horizon car line up!
