Thought I would share since we have all become accustomed to the new "raised bar in gas prices". Heck, we think $2.50 is CHEAP gas!

if only i was 16 again... i'd print that out and tape it in place of the octane sticker at the pump for premium.

i just might do it anyways...

Somebody ship it out to california!

Im paying about 3.50, and that's cheap

WOW!!!!
Probably 91 octane too uh? UN-F-Believable!

Yes its 91 octane, and seriously, that is what I pay at the base gas station which is significantly cheaper than the outside world.

In San Diego you are looking at paying upwards of 3.85 a gallon for 91

Its always ranked as the city with the highest priced gas in the nation.

$3.50 here for 93.

Its out of control.

Wonder why its soo much cheaper in Texas? I know Texas is known for oil but I thought it was all import???

hell diesel prices are extremely high also

Diesel prices are going higher, too due to the ULSD requirements in the fall.

Refineries are paying $80/barrel for low sulfur oil, now... just wait until October, when the government mandates that sounded like such a great idea in 1996 kick in.

Looking at about $3.00 to $3.10 for 93 here. Yes 91 octane in Cali sucks, bought my TTA there and had never seen such low octane for premium.

Refineries are in TX
One time, I noticed that the station accross the street from the refinery was about $0.10/gal higher than in the city, 30 miles away. Explain that!

It "IS" out of control!

we only have 91 here in colorado also. i've been to new mexico before and looked, 91 is all they have also. it really sucks.

we have a huge conoco refinery here, not a drop of it is sold in state. the majority of it (as i've been told) is shipped to texas. I guess its not really price gouging if you can show that your spending a lot of money in production and shipping huh? gotta love oil companies.

I really wish vp would expand and do normal low octane fuel, its not petroium based and could (i'm just guessing at this here) possibly be a lot cheaper. and the money wouldn't be going into the pockets of someone in the middle east.

$ 3.259 for 91 octane Arco crapola for my '02 Z06 at the least expensive station that I know of in Orange County, and $ 5.799 for V.P. 100 octane unleaded (good stuff) at the pump for my turbobuick, also in Orange County. Razor's alky control kit going on one of these days.

I would like to add that when I went to Greece for two months and went to the gas station for the first time I was surprised that gas prices were about the same as here. Then I realized it was in liters. I hope we never become like that where most of the population drives scooters and our car proudly wore it's 1.3L badges like it had a big motor.

I remember when I thought 100LL was expensive at $2.60 a gallon.

i'd love to see that again. its around $4.67 a gallon last i checked. costs around $200 or so to fill up a 172. and thats a small plane with small tanks, only 53 useable gallons.

the first time i filled up my first car it was $1.18 a gallon and i wouldn't fill it up all the way because that was too much money. and that was only 4-5 years ago.

You forgot BP in that first post ;) Who is my employer.

I bet it takes another nice jump in the next few days. BP announced recently they'd have to shutdown one of the main pipelines in the Alaska region. This pipeline is supposed to be shutdown and inspected once every few years but it hasn't been. After some problems it was inspected and found not to be sound enough to continue operating and runs a risk of a bad line rupture . This line supply's 400,000 barrels per day to refineries so with it being down it's the same as loosing another refinery of which the country is already short on. Even less gas supply means even higher price

I hope BP is passing on the profits to their employees!

Yea. I wish but they're greedy cheap asses like the other oil giants  Make all the money you can and try not to spend it repairing what's needed. They just had to order 50,000 feet of 18 and 24 inch pipe with an expedited delivery to try and keep the oil flowing for the west coast refineries. If this line goes down Cali will most likely see a gas shortage.
