Ok, I was just thinking that if you want to create the ultimate sleeper car (and you already have a GN or TR), why not just swap out the rims to the 14 in. steel wheels (with nice NA regal hubcaps), put a flat hood on, and take out the front airdam piece?? It would be waaay easier to do this than swap in a GN motor into a NA regal...Im actually thinking of doing this to my car and cant wait to fool everyone on the road...

Theres actually one already on here :) i BELIEVE its a s*it blue one. its even a bench seat one too. the ULTIMATE sleeper. Has the stock fake wire rims and all. i would absolutely LOVE to see a camaro get SMOKED by that thing... Id pay 25 bucks for a picture of his face at the end of that race.

The f****ed up thing about it is, our cars arent even loud. That dude would have NO clue lol.

yea i seen that before. the sound and tires would be a huge giveaway. shoulda just kept on with it, and painted it too.

I like the idea but how would you get anyone to race you?

I believe you folks might be referring to my light blue TR Limited. I've attached a couple of photos; these were taken prior to removing the front air dams (I had to tweak the Tomka cold air kit to hide the filter), changing out the TR hood ornament to an '81-'87 Regal Limited "crest" style, adding a set of small stainless steel mudguards at all four corners, and garnishing with a pair of curb feelers. The exhaust is a 3" single with two mufflers that exits on the passenger side, as N/A V6s do. All extra gauges are hidden, the "T" horn button has been changed to a colored Buick Tri-shield, and there is a piece of plastic in the instrument cluster that covers up the factory boost gauge and tach so all you see is the fuel gauge and speedometer. Yes, I know it needs a flat hood; all in good time. The burnout photo was taken at the West Coast Buick Nationals held in Phoenix just last month; the vehicle's best 60-foot time on the whitewalls (with the wire wheelcovers in place) was a 1.94. The stunned looks I get after taking out other performance cars are (as the saying goes) priceless; the BMW M3 I dusted two weeks ago was probably the most memorable. This same car was campaigned in the Silver State Classic Challenge back in '92 and '95.

Imagine being a new Viper owner and getting your a$$ handed to you by THAT:eek: . I guess I'd return it to the Dodge dealer, on my way to the Buick show room.

YEA! THATS IT!!! Now THATS a real sleeper lol. Id love to see that race that M3.......It would probably have to be from a slight roll, and roll into the throttle, or else those bike tires would start on fire, but that M3 owner had to be PIIIIISED off! I know i would, if i got beat by that regal lol. He must have felt soo inadequate after that lol.

That regal rocks.

Nice! 1/4 mile et?

E.J. Howe in Conroe, TX had a dark blue one real similar to yours, except it did have the flat hood. You open the hood and your mouth begins to catch flies!

I think a swap to a plain jane Gran Prix would be a good one also. You just do not see them on the road and they have always had more of the G-pa look to me ...2+2's aside.
Regals, Monte, Cutlass, El Camino and Malibu gbodys out the butt at the strip and car shows and on the street here.
Hardly see the Gran Prixs though.

Their is a lot of Gbodys here that are plain looking with nasty sprayed SBC in em that will spank that A#!.
The past 4 times (in the last month) I have went to the track there has been 2-4 regals and cutlass running in the mid to low 12's plain as ever and drove there and back no cage and only 1 had different wheels the rest either no caps or the factory style caps. SBC powered though.

Interesting choice. You know if you go on eBay and look at all of the G-bodies there is hardly ever any GPs there. On the average you'll see about 60 Regals including TRs and another 50 or so Cutlass's and about a 100 ElCaminos/MC/Malibus but only about 5 or 6 GPs on the average. My favorite Pontiac G-body is the 78-81 Grand Am.Hardly see any of them in good condition. You know the GP is catching on though. Down in the hood the GP is coming on strong with the big wheel crowd only because the Cutlass and Regal market is starting to dry up.

I actually did a quasi-sleeper Regal once. I built one to compete in Solo2/autocross. It was a NA 4.1 car running in the stock class which meant that I had to run stock wheels. Damn hard to get a car the handle on a 14X7 wheel. Mine was totally a sleeper. Bench seat,AC delete with as much weight as possible removed from it. I got it down to 3280 pounds with my skinny butt in the seat. I built my 455 car in the same theme only I'm running 16 inchers on it. If I was going to do a TR I'd run some 15 inch wheels. Use the wire covers off a Park Ave or something. Heck, I bet you could find some 16 inchers through the aftermarket. Run some 16" wheel covers from a 4th gen Camaro on it. Plenty of sleeper wheel options other than the dinky POS's. Why not run some 13 inch Dayton wires with Winstons for that low rider look.

There's a guy who races at the track I go to with a blue TR with the landau roof and plushy coffin interior; runs about 11 flat. Great sleeper.

wow.. noone would ever know that car was a turbo regal, unless they heard the spoolup. which, if it has a fairly restrictive air intake system, and exhaust, you'd never hear it. Youd have to just do an electric cutout on the exhaust, and after he agreed to race, just open it up, and whoop him silly.
I'd love to build a car like that...

All you need now is a handicap plaque or plates and you would have the granny look down. No one would suspect a thing. Taking out a C5 or C6 would be the best!!!!
