pain and more pain

well my pain doesn't ever seem to stop, i seem to keep it under control depending on weather, and activity. i am glad to hear that i may have a life after surgery. i know i'm tired of wearing my spin stimulator i have to wear 4 hrs a day for 6 months. i'd ready for a divorce from it, i don't like those epidurals and needles in my back. had 4 of them and 2 times i went into the ER. one time they rushed me in to have an mri because they thought the dr punctured my spine and i might have a blood clot. talk about never wanting one of those again. of course i am have a problem with needles would make a horrible herion addict as i've never liked getting a shot. this is from someone who's mother worked for a dr for 25 yrs and when we were sick she would bring home a shot and talk about a fight going to happen. now i just bite on my shirt or towel, sucks when i have to go to the ER, they give me some morphine shot that feels like concrete going through the needle. haven't had a chance to break down the car again but will tomorrow after the cowboys game. for my brothers in pain i feel you on that, talk about knowing your pharmicist real well at times. i don't know how you guys up north deal with the cold and bad backs and knees and stuff.

My Dr that give me the shots is the only one that i will go to now. I had one Dr that gave me the shot in the wrong spot and the medication went upstream towards my head instead of over my sacral area.

My face was numb for 3 months, i had a irregular heart beat and would get a panic attack every time i logged into tb.com (being a moderator is stressful at times) My face would get flush at the drop of a hat and i couldnt feel my lips for a long time, months!

I need to get back into the grove of things, i was able to stay busy over the years and it helps me stay limber and my back and azz dont hurt sometimes.

But between redoing the outside of the house and cutting down 2 65' oak tree's i think im lucky to walk right now.

My spine Dr said if i can get by with epidurals, that would be best for a long time. Sometimes the shot lasts 6 months with zero pain.

Ive found that alot of fiber helps me out and if i get too much waste in my lower region it kills my back..... I thought i was nuts, but my neighbor down the street is a x power lifter and blew his o-ring out if you know what i mean.
He has gone in for many surgery's for his back and he says the same thing.

Poop alot, apples and fiber, what ever it takes to keep it from building up in the lower intestine.

Ok, well thats a little too much info.

i know it's a tough choice to go under the knife but i've dealt with this since 91 and it took alot to get me on the surgeons table. i finally had enough and we all know our line. some can go with shots in the back and i even had one dr who did it with the help of some type of xray machine to make sure he put the medicine where it needed to be. still didn't help, for those of us who go through it we know our limit and sometimes we push it. it took an accident ( being rearended with me at a dead stop in a small car compared to a SUV ) to get me there. i wore out the ligaments in my knee walking with a gait for 2 yrs before workers comp lost the claim and had to pay for the surgery. regardless if your healthy take care of yourself and take your ability to wake up with no pain as a blessing. i don't think i'll ever know a day without pain but try to make every day count. i don't live life like i used to and it sucks, to not enjoy amusement parks everyday life and long walks like flea markets and just every day life is decision. i know how i'll feel in the morning or afterwards and to know i have limits sucks. got dr's who agree on certain rehab and others who say that it won't help. not trying to be negative but we all have choices and i'd still have the surgery as it has improved my life somewhat. but with the what i deal with on a daily basis i know i have my limits. i guess what i'm trying to say is to each his own i say on alot of my posts. everyone has their choices but there is a time to where you know you've had enough. i have a family and kids i still want to enjoy along with the little things i took for granted. not any more, live everyday to it's fullest and we're all young at one time just know your not superman.

I can relate to your back problems. I've needed two shoulder replacements for near 15 years now. My left leg started bothering me a few weeks ago, went to the Orthopod, took X-rays and informed me I am an immediate candidate for a left hip replacement. I too will NOT go under da knife, I keep the Darvocets a plenty. Joint replacements are only temporary, then you're back to worse than before. Diet and exercise a must.

Hip replacements are getting pretty routine and when it comes time to have yours done, and that time will come sooner than later, about 5 days after you have it done you will kick yourself in the ass (because you can) for not doing it sooner. In the early days the titanium hip was cemented in. This gave the joint about a 15 year span before the hip needed a revision. Now the hip is held in by your own bone growing into pores in the shaft. I have had mine for 23 years and still going strong. I started playing softball 6 months after surgery and proceeded to pitch every inning of every game except one, for the next 18 years. I would still be pitching today if the league didn't fold. And I had both hips done 2 weeks apart. When I awoke from the first surgery I saw more daylight between my ankles than I have ever seen in my entire life. Don't live with that pain, it's not necessary.

That is encouraging, I thought the old procedure had been done through the 90's. I've talked with several people that have problems even after a year of recent replacement. I'll check with the surgeon on the procedure you describe. Thanks.
