Hi guys,

I am replacing my thermostat and will be finished tomorrow. I have a new stainless housing with seal from Kirban's with a 160 degree thermostat. The thermostat that I removed had a number 357-155 on it and nothing else, is this an OE thermostat? What temperature is it? Also, I did not find a seal/o-ring for the thermostat. Should there be one or the only seal needed is on the thermostat housing? Please let me know ASAP.

Only seal is on the housing from Kirban. Dont know that stat number but stock is 180* Drill a small hole in the new stat flange to let steam escape & point the hole towards the top when installing. I find it helps keep it right around 160 on mine.

Thanks for your help. Just to confirm, only one o-seal on the housing and thats it correct?

Just removed my stat and forgot which way it goes!!! DUH! Anyway, I think it goes with the pointed end up..Is that correct? I would like to try what you said. You mention pointing the hole toward the top..What do you mean by that? How large a hole? Like 1/8 inch or larger. This will be the third time I pulled this stat now due to a leak. When I rev the motor it spits. The stat came with a regular orange gasket. Should I use anything else with it. I cleaned the hell out of the opening on the intake and the thermostat housing and it still leaks!
Thanks!
