Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, and older Cadallac V8 all use the same stat as well as the 4.3 V6. Not the newer ones the older SBC ect.

sorry about that in the 1986 1987 buick grandnational what other car took the same 160* thermostat thanks mike

lol The later fwd cars use the same stat but I don't think you can find an easy replacement with 160 degree. My 89 olds 88 has the same one but it's a 195.

i could swore i put one in a car at the shop that was the same 160* thanks thoughmike

I just removed mine and it is a 160*. I was going to replace it with a 180*. Is that acceptable? If not, where can I get a 160*?

hello; A easy experiment would be to keep the stock thermostat and try that waterwetter stuff. When I get my car out thats what I plan to do. I do have a stock chip. I believe with a 160 the temp. is going to vary alot.

I would pop a modern chip in your car, that stock chip has too much timing in it for todays gas, plus your car would idle so much better with the aftermarket chip. That is unless you plan on keeping your car bone stock.

hello; I might try a new chip. What do you like? This a street car.
thanks

I run the Turbo Tweak chip in my car, it's an excellent street chip and super idle with this chip. Alot of guys run the extender chip also, I cannot speak for it as I have never ran it in my car, other guys will chime in about this chip tho.
