I been sitting thinking about making extra horsepower and of course nitrous comes to mind. I dont know how much the motors can handle or if I can even get a chip cut for it and meth. Thinking about a 100 shot or 125. thought about a single stage or even a two stage system.

Is this even a good idea?

To many things that can go wrong adding 2 power additives,It's possiable an can be done, but i don't think it'd be worth having your bottle nos filled after 5-6 1/4 miles passes.NOS will give you 9-10psi boost at that power level meaning you'll have to run around with 10lbs till hit the button unless you get some extravigent eletronics to master it all, If want more power, just turn your boost an meth up...heheh

Enjoy!

I've been rolling this idea around too. I'd like a small shot (25-50 max) just to get the turbo going then let it turn off when my alky turns on at 8psi.

Boost and meth and about as far I wont to take it right now. I just want some extra power with my current setup.

Get a bigger turbo, better converter, bigger injectors, turbot week, and a good tune. You'll run into a wall not upgrading hard parts, then you will find the limits of your engine real quick with nitrous.

Using it to spool off the line is a whole different story.

Pffft... just do what you want to do (mine is going to be a 50 dry shot in 1st):

 wires an hoses everywhere batman .... I got my money pit set up to run a 25-30 shot out the hole

I have upgraded a few things, but there are some fast cars around here Im waiting to play with and nitrous is about my cheapest route right now since I have a few kits laying around here at the house.

I know Ill need a new chip for it just not sure on shot and everything. I only need maybe 100 more horssepower to be able to keep up and not get run down by nitrous cars that are here now.

I've sprayed 100hp(wet)shot repeatedly on my stock '85 HA block, no problems, nothing broken yet, keep the timing down a bit.

i dropped 4 tenths with a 35 shot with a gain of 3psi,stuff works awesome.you need to be on your game as the turbo's are softer on the motor than the spray.

I think one thing most dont consider is back pressure. Another one is air fuel.

When your rolling around on a stock computer and scanmaster.. your far away from the real reality. Said like this, the motor is very forgiving when there is no knock.. but once the button is hit.. you need to be on your game for AFR becuase if it leans out a teeny bit.. there goes the HG.

I broke a rod on that motor I was spraying. It snapped at the wrist pin and took out everything. Being distracted, in a rush, poor traction, etc did me in. The motor hit 7k when it blew the tires.. then spit the rod.

I had a bottle warmer, remote opener, nitrous pressure gauge on the pillar, and was controlling the nitrous through the FAST. I'd set my fuel jetting on the nitrous looking at the correction amount on the FAST. basically I dialed the car in air fuel wise with zero-minimal correction.. then sprayed.. adjusted the fuel pill for same result.

Yes it spooled the turbo faster.. yes it was fun.. the downside was leaving the bottle open killed the bottle in a few days.. filling the bottle was another pain(dropping off and picking up).. etc.

me.. doing it again.. i'd put on a better set of heads.. bigger cam.. and looser converter. Crank it up.. and get the power I want. You can easily get to the blocks limits on a turbo setup without the use of nitrous.

You can run a very efficient turbo for your combination with nitrous in the picture. Run a large exhaust housing too, to let the engine breath.

Having a lot of safeties with the nitrous system is very important. I only use it to spool the 91mm turbo with my 224 cubic inch motor. Takes about 1.7 seconds to get up to launch rpm and boost. After the launch, it's all turbo. Saves a lot on the cost of nitrous when you only use a small amount, and small time on the system to spool with.
When I was running the T76, it only took .4 of a second with a much smaller shot (200). The bottle lasted for a long time. 10 passes per bottle, if I remember right. Now with the 91mm, using a 364 shot to spool it in 1.7 seconds, I get 5 passes per bottle.

Nitrous is great stuff. Just try to think of all the scenarios that could get you in trouble and use as many safeties as possible with the stuff.

Of all the systems on my car, the nitrous system has given me no problems what so ever. Just take your time learning the stuff.

I just want to run it when I need it you know like when your just sitting there trying to run a car down and need a extra 100 horse thats why Im thinking of running it.

You're going to need a good system that you can depend on to control boost and timing retard when the shot hits.
I would start out with a 50 shot or smaller and work up.

ta49
60 lb injectors
tt chip
meth
3 inch dp
3 inch exhaust
3 inch inlent and outlet intercooler

you're gonna want to step up to an external gate to keep your boost on the spray under control...remember that your turbo will get a huge kick in the a$$ if you spray it so a good good wastegate will be required

can you even get a bigger backhousing for a ta-49???
