I try to stay out of politics but our state government is trying to pass a law that requires any car over 15 years old to have annual smog checks. This will show everyone that they are concerned about air pollution and they are going to go after the real offenders! This is big business lobbyist at work. Maryland on the other hand will smog exempt any car that is 20 years old or older. They feel it would be more work then its worth to go after this group of cars. This was recently written up in GM High Tech Performance. There is a web site that they listed to voice your opinions.

These wild fires have created more smog than any auto related pollution could ever come close to. Our governor tried to pass a bill putting our legislature on part time. That way they wouldn't have time to pass goofy laws. It's just a bunch politicians trying to justify their existence,I would like to see them go after some of the more controversial issues like immigration & crime.

Jeff they've been talking about this for years now. I just hope it doesn't happen or I'm moving to. ;)

Talk about inconvenient truth....why can't the friggin' tree huggers and the flaky ploiticians who cater to their bogus rants recognize that global warming is a naturally recurring cycle. Flatulent dinosaurs caused global warming long before the muscle car came to be.

I'll tell you why they won't recognoze it....it'd put them all out of work.

The Republik of Kalifornication has been a constant thorn in my side for years now. Can't recall how long. The fact that it didn't pass this year means that it is more probable of passing next year, or the year after that. But it will pass in time. And I believe that the actual proposed law is not 15 years, it is 15 years back to the first year on no more rolling calander of the smog, About '75 or so? Those early pre-smog cars are still exemt from any BS, but I imagine even those will come under some type of state leglislation because there is money left intact there. This is about money, pure and simple. Now maybe I can go ahead and get my heads & cam done.

now you see why............

all my cars are registered in AZ, my drivers license is from Az,
no smog inspection in Northen Az.
soon enough, I'll be there too!
here they tax the heck out of you, and then force laws down your throat.

So...Arizona doesn't know about the Greenpeace coalitions plan to rule the world?

Any succesful invasion starts with the beach. They are setting up their lines in Cali. From here they will drive inland and Az is first on the list (insert Dr. Evil laugh here).

Did you know that an estimated 30% of the polution in the air over Los Angeles actually drifts in from China and India? Get those armpits to control their polution, put in laws that allow us to shoot pyro's in the throat on sight when they light up fires in So Cal, then come talk to me about the exhaust from a car I drive less than 5000 miles a year.

Today, wars are fought over religion and politics...in the future, I guaranty a few will be fought over environment.

I've been to China several times. As soon as I walked out the doors of the Shanghai Pudong (stop giggling, Beavis) Airport, I felt my eyes and throat catch on fire.
Once I got to my hotel the first time, I opened my curtains to enjoy the view...the sun looked like a white spot in the polluted sky and I could barely see buildings beyond a quarter mile.

I almost went to India last year, but got out of it...after getting all my shots. Guys I work with have gone and say it's worse than China.

That said...my point is...it doesn't matter how much tighter Cali and the US continue to make our environmental policies. The folks who can actually make a difference are outside our boarders and overseas gumming up the air while we export more jobs to them.

Cut them off and start bringing the jobs back here, at least until they act like they give a crap.

...And leave me and my cars alone.

I better stop before I burn a bearing while typing on my Blackberry. My friggin' thumbs hurt.

And what happens if the gestapo stops you, and finds you live in Kali, but the car is registered in AZ?
Same ? if you wreck it, it gets stolen. What does your ins company say??
Here in GA, if you try that stunt, the cops will hang you out to dry, and the insurance company can deny coverage..

Chuck

I do own a house in AZ. and I do leave one or more cars there,
my drivers lic is a CDL, so its legal in calif, and the other states too!,
I informed ins that the cars are back and forth depending on car shows, etc, they have no problem, my daily drivers are reg in calif, ( wifes and mine)
Az isn't concerned, calif thinks I'm trying to get away with something, but can't do anything about it, (I was stopped by CHP, he told me I needed to get calif drivers license, I asked him since when did CDL need to be only in calif? he said well then just be careful, and let me go)

Wow! That's very harsh Lou... I'm just talking about KaleeeFornia burning.
Perhaps I was a bit harsh on CA. But being the reasonable person that I am & after considering that. I would settle with just running out the liberals & illegals. Calif. losses now total 1 billion,Being the generous country that we are when ever any disasters happen around the world. We are always there with aid. Now to ad insult to injury Bush is donating 44 million to Mexico to fight border crime. Why isn't Mexico sending us some aid instead of all their headaches. Meanwhile they want to punish car enthusiast's, The wildfires have dumped enough pollution to equal an estimated 444,000 vehicles. Fires that were started by an arsonist & faulty power lines. The Al Gore bunch is already blaming global warming & the iraq war on this. I could ramble on but whats the use.
