DEI Reflect A Cool - Slowboy Racing Inc. - The performance experts for factory turbocharged vehicles.

I heard that not running a heat shield COULD damage the paint on the hood over the exhaust housing of the turbo too. ?

I just installed this item under the hood insulator and over the turbo exhaust housing. I found this Reflect a cool piece in a 12" X 12" piece.

I haven't had a chance to test due to winter but it's great material and the adhesive back holds great with no clearance needed. I was concerned about it not sticking but they have this adhesive stuff, now a days, down to a science. $16.00 shipped was worth a shot.

Your fine either way, personally I like the look with a shield better. Here is a pic of mine.

I've seen that picture before and thought that was a good looking piece. Had forgotten whose it was.

I cut my stock shield to fit my THDP and had it polished and chromed.
Sure beats looking at a rusty housing and helps eliminate turbo scars.

I like the idea of a shield myself. Mine is a simple polished piece of stainless steel sheet that works great. When it's removed it lays flat. Just has a few holes in it for bolts and a sigle louver punched into the top. It is totally open on each side.

I cut and powdered coated mine, but the inside is coated with JET HOT. Helps reflect the heat and save the outside finish. The shield has held up great.

Are you ever going to do a concours restoration in 20 years where you'll need the original parts? If not, cut your stock shield with a $54 tool purchase. I bought one of these and downloaded the template from gnttype.org and took all of 5 minutes to cut.
