I'm interested in the line lock and the richmond 3.42's.

I'm kinda new at this so I ned to ask you what is probably a stupid question... I have recently pruchsed an 86GN that runs high RPM on the highway. About 3000 rpm as opposed to the 2200 that it should run. I have been told that I'm probably running 3.73's and therefore I need to go back to 3.42's. If I did indeed have to swap the gears, is what you're selling sufficient for my application or would I need more stuff?

Please advise, I'm very interested and can pay asap!

Are you sure the converter is locking up. If not that might be the problem. I have seen cars with 3.73's and they dont reve quite that high on the highway, and also at what speed is it at when your taching 3K.

turbo39151, if you have 3:73's, you may have a rear from a hurst-olds or 442, or maybe someone just swapped them out. if you're sure that you have the 8.5, these 3:42's will work. But as DCVING said, your problem could be elsewhere.

The converter was locking up on the tranny before it was rebuilt and is now locking up as well. My RPM is 3k at 65mph. Feels like I'm in 3rd. But the tranny is freshly rebuilt with something like 50 miles on it. That's why I'm looking at the gears. (I haven't removed the rear diff cover yet but I'd like to be prepared...) Unless you guys have other suggestions??

If I were you, jack the car up and check the ratio first. Gear changes can be a pain to set up especially with the rear end in the car. What size tires are you running on the rear too? I still have a hard time thinking 3K at 65mph is from the 3.73's, my car revs about 3k at 75mph with 3.73's and 26" tires. Just my opinon. turbo_canuck I hope you dont think I am trying to disturb a sale, its not my intensions at all. Just trying to help.
