Took The Ole Heep Out Tonight...

The weather finally cooled off & had a real nice evening tonight. Rolled my CJ-7 out of the garage, hit the key, primed the fuel pumps & fired it off. It has been a long term, off & on project, hot-rod Jeep. I built a 9.5:1 .030 over Cadillac 500 engine & swapped that in with a TH400 w/Allison spec RV torque converter, Dana 300 w/32 spline output shafts. I have most of the bugs worked out & its becoming fairly reliable. It tracks fairly well under acceleration, but skates around a bit when you let off & the weight transfers forward. Keeps you sharp. Cruised into town & around the plaza. Has a bit of a rumble that catches the attention of those that notice that type of thing. Had a good time!

Aren't Caddy engines pretty light for the cubic inches? Why didn't you go with a small block out of curiosity and sounds nice.

The Buick 455, Cadillac 472/500/425 weigh about the same (sub 600 lbs.) & not much more than the original I-6.

Seeking as much off idle torque as possible. Small block Chevy cannot compare.
