Pepper was our little Mini Schnauzer. Had her 13.5 years. She was a very gentil dog, never bit anyone. For over 5 years she had a stomach problem. We tried everything from special prescription food to bananas to raw meat. Nothing helped her diarrhea. Poor thing couldn't hold it. She got blind and deaf as well. Couldn't take seeing her step in her poop and get it in her bed any more. Hated to do it but she finally had lost 2 lbs and we knew it was time. Anyone that's had to put down a pet knows how it hurts. Hope to see her again someday.

Yeah, man thats a bummer.

All you can do is remember the joy she brought you and the family.

We all want pets and love them all knowing how we will be devastated one day. Take all the good for years and then end up with sadness. Weird huh?

Rest in Peace Pepper.

Tough it out dude.

I really know the pain you feel as we recently lost "Gumby", our 12 years old Airedale terrier on July 9th...He was a part of our family...Our condolences to you...He was lucky to have a good master like you!...Hang on!....

R.I.P. Pepper

Very sorry to hear it. They are like family and if one of mine had to be put down I'd be a mess. I've had to put 2 down over the years and it took me a long time to get over the last one. Good luck and see if you can find a replacement pup to help with the loss. A new one will help quite a bit and I understand if you want to wait but start looking and it will help you remember Pepper and find one that fits in your family.

Miniature Schnauzers are a great dog/friend. We have had several. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Thanks guys. It was awfully lonely coming down stairs this morning not hearing the jingle of her collar.

So sorry for your loss... That can be one of the biggest hurts there is...

I too know your pain. I put my friend of 15 years down a year or so ago. Get another dog to fill the void and put love back into your life. Yes, you go through the pain again someday, but the joy they bring you for all those years is one of the true pleasures of life. You provided a good life for Pepper.

I am sorry for you and your family's loss and I know only too well the feeling.
Hang in there, the pain will go away and be replaced by the remembrance of the joy that you and your family was blessed with.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss, Pronto. I lost my best friend 1.5 years ago and I still hurt for him.

I am sure pepper appreciated your love and mercy.
I am sorry for your loss.

kirban 2 cents worth

Gone through it several times with our pets....tough dogs and cats seem to have such short lives compared to say birds and turtles....

I still remember when my one cat died....on valentines day....

Tough one was our llapaso called him wookie....toughest part was after they put her to sleep was having to bring him home...and bury him...

They say men don't cry.....but ask someone who has had a pet...and its a different story!

Had one of my favorite cats get killed by a car....about 2 months before we were moving....

Pets are family members....and we go to any extremes to keep them safe and healthy....

kirban........

Feel your pain. It will get better but takes a while. We lost our 15 year old ragdoll cat back in January. First time ever that I had a pet that I was responsible for making the call on what to do. When I was a kid they usually just went to the vet and didn't come back. With Destiny, we wanted to be there when she was put down. Will never forget the look in her eyes at the end but knew we were doing the right thing. Bawled like a little girl and I am over 50.

We ended up getting a calico cat from a local shelter that my wife and son started volunteering at. She has really filled that empty space that our other cat left. It was a good feeling saving a cat that no one else wanted. She has feline HIV which is an immune defiency disease just with cats. Only contagious with other cats if biting is involved. I always tell her she hit the homeless cat lottery as she has it made around here.

We also recently had our almost 18 year old chinchilla die. He has been around forever, had him since before we were married.

Hang in there.
