I completely disagree. The radials will be quicker. They are less forgiving than a slick. For the average TR, a 275/60 MT DR and an airbag is all that is needed. I had no problem getting high 1.48 to 1.51 60's with a high 10/low 11 sec stock long block car launching at 7 to 8 psi on an average prepped track on street car night with no other suspension mods. The trick is to play with air pressure, and ease into launching with boost. Most start too high, or insist on using a transbrake which is a no go for a radial and no serious suspension work.

To each his own....:)

If you wanna go fast you gotta launch hard and not" Ease" into it...its all about getting to the other end first....

Ordered nitto 275/50/15 drag radials
Hell wig rear sway bar
RJC motor brace
RJC boost controller

Hope this is a positive toward my goal.

Good luck! Have you thought about boxing the stock control arms? Do that and replace the bushings also. Good to go. Stock replacement springs too. The bushings and springs aren't too expensive. I've heard the nt555rs are not too bad at the track , you just have to do a longer burnout. I think it was 4-5 seconds at 50mph.

How do they look on the car I have a friend he runs the 275-60 and they look funny to my eye like balloons the side wall is so tall. Not bad but just out of sorts ... Never was crazy with the look on my TA either .., I think the car would look better with wide tires out back though.

They look OK to me. Best to use at least a 8" wide wheel. Here's my GN on 275/60/15 MT DRs with a 8" wide wheel out back. 20 psi in the tire and best of 1.39 short time.

I love the MT DRs for track and street. The Nitos need a good burn out to hook. When does that happen on the street? Years ago, had problems with BFG DRs in the rain. Maybe they've changed the compound since then. I hope so. If you drive lots of miles, and in the rain, I hear the Nitos are the way to go. If it's a weekend driver that you want to hook good on the strip and street. Micky Ts are the way to go in my book.

All the power in the world is useless unless you can put it to the ground.;) Taller is gooder...

We drive on the street more than on the track, so why not get maximum traction on the street, then your covered on the track, whether its prepped good or not. Taller tire helps linear traction more than a wider tire. I run 30'' ET street bias ply's on my car and hook hard from a stop. Though, you need to set the car up like this, it works very well stop light to stop light. Last outing car ran estimated low 11 on 18-19 psi
Here is a vid of 18-19 psi with taller tire. I used to lay 100ft or more of rubber before it would hook up on 26''ET street DR's.

I personally like using slicks. I don't disagree with DR being better as I have not invested the time finding that out myself, and probably never will because my rear 325/40/18 DR cost me $750 and they MUST last. But the slicks takes away a lot of variables that you might come across, like a bad prepped track and driver error. When my car was running high 9's, it was a blast launching off the transbrake at 20psi and hanging the tires and getting 1.3 sixty foots. For fun factor, the slicks are my chosen favorite, but you can't deny the results seen on a DR either. Just my 2 cents.

Your Car looks good man .
I hope I can at least get a mid 12 with my set up first time put this May.

You should go mid 11s with whats in your sig, as long as you can get the DRs to Hook and the tune is good.

That would blow my mind if it ran in the 11s!!
Wondering if I need to replace the stock radiator ? I know last summer it would get to 210-220 pretty quick.

It should blow your mind if it doesn't. You have more then enough to get you there. If the et is not there but it runs 112mph or more, you know you have a 11 sec car. Secret is to get to the 330 as quick as possible. Play with tire pressure and launch boost til you find the happy medium, and give er shit.

I don't see why not, you got more than I do and I swear my next time out I'm getting that 11

Toyo looks good but I did not see any for 15 inch wheels.
I don't believe Toyo makes a 275/60 or 275/50 in 15"
I have used both BFG and MT drag radials. 275/50-15. Best 60' with BFG was around 1.8, MT's are much better. Low 1.6's they look better too imo. Cost about the same. Don't last quite as long. Both are a little scary in rain but I just go real easy. I just bought my first set of Nitto's. They r not on the car yet tho. To me they look more like a street tire than drag. Quite a bit cheaper.
